Marvel Studios declares war on Fox!

Hey,if I was Marvel Studios I'd sure want everything under my control, especially the FF world.

It's worth differentiating between Marvel Studios and Marvel Comics here, imo. Obviously they're on the same team, but they are different corporate entities with different people calling the shots.

Except...this means no Doom in the comics. So this bites.

Yeah that's true. But I think Marvel Comics'acts are a direct response to what happens in the movie world so they can sell the most bankable heroes and the ones MS actually owns.

I hate to say it but I think it's something that needs to be done.

Besides, when was the last time the fantastic four were relevant anyway?

Ah. reread it all. My mistake. Also glad the relationship with Disney and Sony isnt toxic, since this would suck for Spider-Man if Marvel had the balls to diminish Spidey Marvel diminished Spidey.

Marvel cancelled FF comics because the comic doesn't sell. THE END.

The merchandising is a weird one, though. There is money to be made selling X-Men merchandise.

The second one is flat out false. One initial cover didn't have the Fantastic Four, but there are variant covers that feature them (and one that features them exclusively, iirc).

And screwing with the comics WON'T achieve that.

In the end the fault lies with them, Fox wouldn't have Fantastic Four if Marvel hadn't sold them to them.

Changing things in Comics or halting merchandise won't affect the movies or the rights all it does is hurt the fans

Ugh. Marvel has canceled the F4 comics many times in the past 4 years. This is nothing new. They just end up trying to relaunch to boost sales cause the F4 sell like ****. They will relaunch again next year.

That article is just trying to boost the studio wars.

The only thing that does make sense is not creating new characters (or, more accurately, creating them in some other comic than X-Men or Fantastic Four). They would want to make sure those characters can be placed in Marvel's movies, not Fox movies.

That being said, I don't think House of M was at all motivated by the movie issues. And I suspect Fantastic Four's cancellation was based on sales. So a lot of those suggestions are overblown.

It's Marvel Comics who decided this, not Marvel Studios. They will relaunch it anyway.

I think this (FF comic cancellation) and Spider-Man joining movie Civil War are non stories generated to get clicks.

Go Marvel. I hate the representation of the Xmen and F4 at FOX. FOX is being spiteful. They wouldn't even let Marvel get the rites back to SS and Galactus. Two characters that they aren't going to use ever. They couldn't even represent Galactus right in a movie. I'd make it difficult for FOX too. Sure Marvel may loose some revenue but it's good to see them stand their ground and not think about the almighty dollar first, which is a rarity in the Corporate world.

Fox will absolutely use SS and Galactus again.

Also Fox's X:FC and DoFP (IMHO) are better than every single Marvel Studios movie including WS, IM and Avengers.

IGN wrote an article about the FF getting cancelled due to Fox, and then, as like a post-script essentially, they also wrote "the comic isn't selling that well either."

Uncanny X-Men is full of brand new mutant characters.

Agreed 100%, especially on the Galactus and SS front. I can't wait to see what Fox and whathisdouche have in store with a 'gritty and grounded' Galactus and Silver Surfer. Morons. F- Fox and their crappy foX-Men films with Wolverine, Mystique, a hippie and a *****e as their main characters.

Marvel's best interests are focusing on their core brands that they retain 100% of the rights over. I don't see them losing any revenue in deciding to focus their resources on ventures they generate 100% of the revenue from, rather than something they have to give Fox a percentage to. They're making money hand over fist with Spidey, Iron Man and Rocket Raccoon toys as it is.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

I'm not on either side of this ridiculous, cooked up war, but you're silly to think Marvel Studios isn't all about the almighty dollar at the expense of anything else just like Fox, Sony etc.

Fox is making a cheap, bastardized FF film to spite Marvel and people are siding with Fox?

I'm team Marvel...

F4 needs to be back home. it's wrong that it's not.

X-Men is doing fine over there... i want Apocalypse and a Mr Sinister film, but after that I'd be fine with a reboot in the MCU

you're right.. MCU isn't always high quality. Neither is Marvel Fox tho. I prefer The Avengers to FC and DOFP but Avengers is the only MCU film i prefer over FC and DOFP.

It's not war. It's business. Marvel has over 5,000 characters under its control, and can't possibly feature all of them on t-shirts, Disney Infinity figures and Disney XD animated programs. It makes no sense to invest in characters (except for corporate icon and heavily licensed Spidey) that have their film rights tied up elsewhere.

So should Marvel take away form the shelf space dedicated to Dancing Baby Groot dolls to feature Sunspot light up dolls? And then cut a check to FOX for their share of the tie-in revenue? I don't think so.
