Marvel Animation Marvel Zombies

I've only seen the first season of What If.

No idea when I'll ever get around to this. Looks interesting, though.

Nice to see my man Shang-Chi back and of course Blade.

Shame they seem locked into the "What-If" animation and not gone with something a bit different or new, other styles exist Marvel, but will check this out for pure interest as I kind of fell off What If.

That was the best trailer Marvel has ever released. Period.

I might give it a shot if I have time and want to scratch the Halloween itch. Any idea how many episodes it'll be?

Really looking forward to seeing this soon. I really enjoy the concept and definitely have my favorites so I hope they good a good job with them. Really cool seeing them mix-matching the character interactions, the more hardcore action sequences, horror angle… Really refreshing stuff that keeps the MCU fresh.

Binged the series. Cool concept and strong/solid execution. For a mini-series I would probably rate it a 8/8.5 out of 10.

Wasn’t disappointed by some of my favorites showings, strong action sequences, some sparse but still dramatic beats, some fun/funny nuggets and some good surprises sprinkled into the mix.

It probably got a bit too carried away in some regards which sort of detracts from the overall product. I guess the What If show also got a bit too out there and it can became just a bit too much. It also jumped ahead in parts almost fast forwarding through some stuff. It could’ve marinated a bit more.

It’s better too tone it down a notch in some aspects so that the story feels more grounded hence carrying the audience along in a more down to earth and impactful manner. But hey it’s about zombies so… it sort of comes with the territory even thought less sometimes is simply more/better.

Yeah this was solid fun, it helped having some of the original actors voice their characters and added more weight to it than What If which had someone do an impression of the OG actor in some places. There were a few neat surprises along the way and characters show up that I didnt expect, its not going to re-invent the genre but its one of the better Marvel animation efforts.

The animation was decent and had some nice visual flair moments in the combat scenes, especially the finale, it also didnt hang back on the violence either which when dealing with zombies is king of needed. It may not quite be on the X-Men 97 level but I was far more invested than in What If.

If they did more I would be more inclined to check this out again, with a neat varied, range of characters they had going here. Good fun.

Thor vs. Scarlet Witch Debate Settled by Marvel Zombies, Fans React - Comic Book Movies and Superhero Movie News - SuperHeroHype

Not so fast…

Well Zombie SW face a ”heavily wounded” and depressed Thor from his encounter with Infinity Thanos. She basically faced an End Game version of Thor.

I’m pretty sure someone said it, maybe it was Spider-Man that mentioned in the narration that Thor was severely injured, Valkyrie then mentioned that Thor didn’t speak with anyone and he was clearly in a sort of catatonic state with eyes closed and we can see the injuries he suffered on his face and even his unusual fragile physical state.

So 100% that wasn’t a prime version of Thor.

Then again Thor still managed to give Zombie SW a good run for her money on 1 v 1. He then eventually succumbed to becoming a zombie under her control.

Interestingly enough when Zombie SW send her armies to face against Infinity Hulk she progressively sent more and more capable opponents and actually saved Zombie Thor for the very last second, showing that she saw Thor as the ace in her sleeve and last resource to at the very least face and have enough power to distract an immensely powerful being like Infinity Hulk until she could surprise him and ”steal his heart”.

So yeh there’s plenty of nuance to look at in their encounters. It’s not as clear cut and some may paint it. Thor was shown to be Top tier most powerful being in Marvel zombies. Surely Top 5. So yeah, as a Thor fan I was fine with it. ;)

This was generic as hell and not in the good way.

Next to no real depth.

The synergy..... they need to stop. Just because the OGs are gone doesn't mean they need to be gone/zombies here as well.

It's sad that this is also how we get to see characters not used in 5 years or teased forever be used here.

Positive was some of the friendships were great and what i want in live action.

But this definitely aint no xmen 97 quality.

I thought it was fine. There were some hits, some misses. A lot of you-know-where-this-is-going happening so nothing too surprising there. Though the ending was a surprise but it also set up a potenial sequel/second season.

Some of the choices I think were spot on and a few were just disappointing but they can't please everybody. Kind of surprised we didn't see more of obscure and lesser known heroes and certainly far fewer villians than they could have placed in there.

I pretty much agree. I thought it had some entertaining moments but it would be easier to be invested in these characters more if we had seen more of them throughout Phases 5 and 6.

Some of my absolute favorites in the series:

- Moonknight Blade
- Okoye
- Namor
- Thor
- Valkyrie

I thought the human characters were also pretty well written, the Black Widow gang for example.

It was okay for what it was. What it was being a spin off from "What If..?". Nothing much different from that show, really.

Even if it was successful enough for a second season, who's gonna actually be interested in it? What can make the audience excited for it?
I mean, look at the heroes and villains we (might) have left..
Maybe Spider-Man and Ant-Man's head (and that's a big maybe), Kamala, Wanda...uhhh..Taskmaster?Maybe?...Star Lord, Drax, Nebula... I guess they could come up with a way to have Jen become She Hulk without the post Endgame storyline, they already did with Kamala, Riri and Kate...some of the Eternals I guess.. The Skrulls... Can't remember if Fury was killed off in What If...
That's just not an interesting line up.

The huge mistake was making this a continuation of the What if...Zombies? episode. That was clearly a one off story with a hopeful open ending. All the main heroes and Avengers were gone very early on.

Just imagine they set the show on a reality where Avengers, X-men and the Fantastic Four co-exist. With the big heroes as protagonists, and the zombies being conscious like in the comics instead of silent ones. Heck, they could've had Reed opening a portal and having an infected hero from the what if dimension come to their's and infect them.
Now, that's the real what if...
