I've done some volunteering for school, most of the stuff was alright. Setting up a haunted house for a halloween fair, scaring little kids was pretty awesome....except all I did was dig a hole, I was the "grave digger"

And I helped out at relay for life...and that was pretty much it......it's not bad, if you choose the right stuff

I also volunteered with the Smithsonian for the weekend of the National WWII Memorial ceremony,I stood around and gave directions to folks around the National Mall.

Have any of you ever done volunteer work before?
If so, what kind? Why?

I'm only taking 3 classes this semester and am not working so I figured instead of sitting around on my ass all day/shopping/getting drunk I could actually put forth some sort of effort, minimal as it may be.

I was thinking about volunteering at one of the zoos maybe, or an animal shelter. It sounds like a good idea in my head right now but once I'm scraping elephant **** off the floor I know I'll be over it in a heartbeat.:heart:

I volunteer at the Humane Society. We've been fostering since April, one dog and 12 kittens. It was too hard to keep a dog in the apartment But, they've all been adopted, except for the last litter we dropped off this weekend. Three out of four are still there. I love it, I get to help (the feral cat population around here is ridiculous) and I get a daily kitten fix.
