Mass Effect 2

I'm trying to avoid spoilers on my first play-through.

One thing that worries me a bit is spending money on fuel and probes. I've been flying around and scanning for resources pretty heavily, but I vaguely recall someone on a podcast mentioning that that's a good way to screw yourself over, since money is apparently very scarce in the game. Is it better to just wait until new research options come up and then try to mine what I need so I can save myself from having to buy fuel and probes, or is the cost of fuel and probes not really that big a deal?

Don't start hopping from system to system trying to mine. When you have to go on missions, explore the planets in that system only. Next mission search the planets in that system, etc.

I had enough mining elements to upgrade almost everything. 1 or 2 weapons may have fell behind (SMG and handgun) but in the end I was relying on only one gun anyways.

Mordin is awesome, I am glad to see that you have realized this Corp.

And I hadn't thought of The Doctor comparisons. That makes him more awesome.

He's so badass. Especially since I'm playing a Renegade. He and my total ****** Shep see eye to eye on everything.

My favorite line so far is when he's talking about the Krogans' adaptation to the genophage. Shepard asks if he's sure it's an adaptation and Mordin's like, "Please, Shepard. Social and environmental factors accounted for. Not an undergraduate." :lmao:

Yeah, I'm already trying to limit my weapon and armor upgrades to the things that I actually use. I really hate that they made resources and money so limited this time around. It makes the game feel very constricting. Also not a fan of having ammo.

When you do a second playthrough if I'm not mistaken they give you a huge bonus.

Corp...your avatar...I love it.

Yes Mordin is awesome. Without a doubt my favorite of the new characters. One of my favorite lines of his: "Not always been a doctor, can handle myself. Advantage of being Salarian. Turians, Krogan, Vorcha -- all obvious threats. Never see me coming."

Yeah, as soon as I realized that he was a hardened STG badass in addition to being a smarmy, arrogant biology genius, I fell in love. I've been noticing a sad trend when people talk about him on message boards, though: apparently he's super-old for a Salarian, so there's not much chance he'd realistically make it to Mass Effect 3, even if he survives the suicide mission. :csad:

That and his personal sidequest really makes the leap from him just being a fun character to a complex one.

I'm looking forward to his loyalty quest. I was kind of pissed that the Illusive Man pretty much hijacked me to Horizon, since I still had Zaeed's loyalty mission and a couple other side quests I hadn't gotten to yet. But I read that most loyalty missions unlock after Horizon, so I'm looking forward to finishing Horizon and getting to those.

You bastard. You should've prepared yourself better. You should've done more to save him! :argh:

I really want to get my last achievement (Insanity) out of the way, but I feel I should save it more for when ME3 comes out.

Going to go for a mostly paragon, there are some things I can't resist doing like shooting Elnora. Effing b'ch liar. :cmad:

Also Adept, and probably I'll stay chaste to Ashley.

So for ME3 I'll have 3 saves. 1 where I cheated, 1 where I stayed chaste, and another where I was a bad ass.

In my badass mission, Grunt, Legion and I think Thane died. But then again, Thane was dying already. :o

Don't spoil Corp Erz!

At this rate he'll find out out The Collector's being led by Saren's Son!

Crap, I gotta stop coming to this thread. :o

I've already got my next play-through set to go--Paragon female Soldier who will totally sex up Garrus. :D

Garrus is like 100X more awesome in this game.

Don't worry.

I haven't even mentioned when the space Lincoln shows up and drags Shepard into an iconic battle between good and evil.

I still can't believe the Collectors brought Saren back to life.

F***in' Lincoln. I swear, that guy's chasing me through video games. I just had to kick his ass in Sam & Max season 1 last week. :o

And who would have thought that he was the M/M/F/F love interest.

Lincoln's big with the kids these days. I'm just waiting for somebody to do a gritty reboot with him.

I'm totally cheating on Ashley with my Renegade this time. I'm just trying to decide who I should go with. I think I've narrowed it down to Miranda or Kelly Chambers, although I'm leaning more toward Kelly. I kind of like the idea of Shep slumming with a supporting character this time around, plus I just caught up with Mad Men so I'm all about banging the secretary. :awesome:

Kelly doesn't count, I don't think in terms of effecting events in Mass Effect 3 .

That and she doesn't get a "romance" scene so to speak. I mean something happens but its not a full out romance plot like Miranda, Jack and Tali would.
