Mass Effect 2

Yeah, right at the beginning she's all, "Call me 'Kelly,' Commander." I was going for Renegade jerkwad at the time, so I was all, "Let's keep this professional," but later I went through that dialogue tree again and found that calling her "Kelly" allows you to flirt with her a lot.

But if she doesn't count, I actually think I'm gonna go for Jack. She suits my Shep more than Miranda and, frankly, I'm way more curious about what her romance path looks like than Miranda's non-psychopathic one.

Just be aware that there's a renegade and paragon path for Jack's romance and her renegade one closes the relationship off much earlier.

Aw, balls. But I guess I can justify some Paragon stuff. I mean, if you actually like someone, you're generally not going to be a total *****e to her. Plus, I already did some accidental Pargon stuff earlier--like, I stopped that kid from joining the mercs' attack on Archangel on Omega Station. It was a twitch-reaction to seeing the icon appear on the screen, but it sets some precedent that my Shep isn't completely evil.

Just as long as I don't lose my eyes' super-awesome evil glow. :hehe:

It's basically a choice between do I like this person or do I just want teh sexy timez.

I couldn't bring myself to hit on or even sex up Miranda....I like the character but I saw her as more of a Number 2 as opposed to "chick I bang and don't talk to anymore"

Well, she's basically got the face of that chick from Chuck in addition to her voice, so I don't really have that problem. ;)

and I hate Chuck and everything associated with it, so that might be part of my problem

Geez, really? I was never really interested enough to watch more than a couple episodes, in spite of Adam Baldwin's aura of awesomeness, but I never hated it. I don't know of anyone besides you who actually does hate it. Either people seem to love it or they're totally indifferent to it. Except for you.

Miranda was actually the one character I didn't like. I really can't stand her. I'm doing my New Game + now and I think I'm going to make sure she dies at the end. I don't want her in my Mass Effect 3. :o

Haha, that's a bit mean. I'm sure I'll probably wind up trying to kill some people myself, though. Zaeed, if at all possible. He's annoying. Oh, and Jacob. God, has there ever been a more boring human-shaped thing in the history of the universe? I'm including cardboard cutouts and those plastic blow-up things that always pop back up when you punch them, too. Every time I do the rounds on the ship to check for new dialogue options, I have to brace myself to keep from falling asleep when I speak to him.

Jacob is alright. He's definitely boring, but like I said before he's boring in an "average guy" sort of way that I like.

Kaiden on the other hand...yeesh...

Yeah, not a fan of Kaiden either. "I've taken enough of your time, Commander." F***in' right you have, now go die. :o

Jacob's alright. I think he gets overshadowed by the other characters as he is a sort of normal guy whereas you've got Salarian commando scientists, Turian military experts turned vigilante, and mysterious reptilian assassins.

that's why I like him....just an average guy with some Daddy issues, guess that's why him and Miranda get along like they do

but Kaiden can get taffied by Collectors for all I care

I wish you got to choose who you could sacrifice like in the 1st game. Jacob, Legion, Zaeed and possibly Kasumi would all be fodder.

Averagely boring. There's a reason the rest of the squad is made up of cutthroat mercs and psychopathic Jedi (shut up, you know the BioWare people were totally thinking "crazy, badass Jedi" when they made Jack) and genetically engineered warriors: you're supposed to be recruiting a team of the absolute best to deal with the Collectors. I'm not even that far into the game but Jacob and Miranda already feel like two hangers-on you were saddled with just because they happen to work for the guys who pay your bills.

I like Jacob for all the subtle things about him that make him a valuable part of the crew. Similar to why I like Kaidan, or at least don't dislike Kaidan. But Jacob's much better than Kaidan.

The only character I actively dislike in ME2 is Tali. "Actively dislike" might be too strong a term... well, no, probably not.

:cmad:

Wrench Wench = Win.

Therefore Tali is awesome.

Seriously though the only ME squad member I'm less than enthusiastic about is Liara. I love the entire cast for 2 and was indifferent about Kaidan.

I liked Miranda as the first officer. She gave off a Col. Tigh vibe in that she was hated by the crew and that's fine with me. :awesome:

In ME1, it was Tali and Liara who I didn't like. While Liara's retroactively grown on me - I've come to like what a good job the animators did tying her facial expressions to the voice actress in a few talks - I can't stand Tali. She annoys me so freaking much.

I like Liara's growth in ME2 as a character, and I really hope that some piece of DLC ends up involving her. But I still can't stand Tali. After meeting her at Freedom's Progress and seeing how she was handling that situation, I hoped she'd come out differently, but once she's on the Normandy it just feels like ME1 again. Bored. Want to talk to someone else now.

Mind you, I'm not saying she's badly-written. Her character fulfills a certain desired and needed role; it's just not a role I care about.

Then again, my two Shepards are pretty ruthless, so hey.

I don't know, I can't really get behind the Cerberus people because they're Cerberus people. I keep expecting to assemble my team and then hijack the Normandy SR2 for myself and cut ties with Cerberus. Maybe I played the last game too recently, but Cerberus in ME 1 had literally no gray area. They were alien-hating bigots and uniformly a**holes, down to the very last man. The fact that ME 2 starts right off asking you to believe that "oh, those guys were just fringe elements, there's a whole other side to Cerberus that's cool with aliens but just concerns itself primarily with advancing humanity's interests" is a bit much to take in. I still vehemently deny that I work for Cerberus in every dialogue option I get.

Cerberus isn't so bad....they did RAISE YOU FROM THE DEAD and give you a sweet new ride

plus, there are worse bosses than the Illusive Man, he seems to give a **** as opposed to the Council who, if indifference was an Olympic event, they would all medal in

Yeah, but Shep's human. Alien-hating bigots who'll be nice to a human are still alien-hating bigots.

Granted, I'm getting over that because of people like Jacob and Kelly. Jacob may be boring, but he's a pretty stand-up guy.
