Mass Effect 2

Ditto. If something interesting is coming out, I'll be able to check it out. Unless it's on the Wii, but really, I don't have any desire to play anything on the Wii anyway.

nice to see mass effect finally come to ps3, wouldve liked the 1st one as well, but im not gonna ***** and moan about it, next up splinter cell conviction? (all the others went multiplatform eventually) lol, but anyway, I might get the new 360 later this year, there hasnt been any type of rrod problems with it, has there?

Well if you are going to get the 360 later this year, you might as well just purchase Mass Effects 1 and 2 considering Mass Effect 2 won't be out until Jan 2011.

I'm sure there have been a few problems like that, but the numbers are way down from when it was first introduced. I've personally had one 360 die on me but I got it replaced and my current one's been running fine ever since. A bit loud, but that's just the 360 for you. I crank the volume up when I'm playing anyway.

For comparison's sake, my PS3 actually freezes on me more often than my 360. Not often in general, mind you, but it's frozen 3 or 4 times since I bought it, whereas my replacement 360 has never frozen. Luck of the draw, I guess.

true, I guess I'm still hoping me1 does go to ps3 since it's gonna be my primary system even after I get a 360, but if it becomes crystal clear that it aint happening, I'll just get both ME for 360 so I can experience the continuity that every one's talking about

Exactly. I got Uncharted with the PS3 I bought a little while before Heavy Rain and now I actually like the Uncharted series even more than Heavy Rain.

And again, my point was that if this hypothetical person who desperately wanted to play ME could afford a PS3, they could probably scrape together the money for a 360 too. It wouldn't necessarily be a taxing purchase for them.

Oh I agree.

I don't know why more people aren't 2 - 3 console gamers.

I mean you are always going to lean more on one than the other. I stopped caring what system got what now that I have the 2 major gaming systems.

Traditionally I am a multi console owner. I had a Sega Master System and an NES, a Genesis and an SNES, a PS1 and eventually an N64 (tho that was late in the N64 cycle), then a PS2 a Gamecube, and even bought an Xbox eventually (wasn't going to but there was one setting in a garage sale I passed by for $10 not too long ago).

The only thing tho is that in the past the consoles were more diverse. The Genesis would get this really awesome X-Men game, and the SNES would get a similar X-Men game but was different in graphics and gameplay. There were clear choices, and plenty of exclusives. Even up to the PS2 generation it was like that, you could get your quirky offbeat titles, God of Wars, Jak's, ect. on your PS2, and get equal quality Nintendo brand stuff on the Gamecube.

This gen however I'm just not interested in Nintendo's offering. I bought a Gamecube basically for Metroid and Zelda, and then it collected dust. While I enjoyed those games, in retrospect it was just a waste of money to buy something for one or two games and then let it set. Then there's PS3 and 360, which get a lot of the same games, so it comes down to the exclusives. Personally, and this is just me, but there's not enough 360 exclusives I care about to warrant another console purchase. I'm not a Halo fan, Gears just doesn't do it for me, I could easily get Left 4 Dead on my PC, and Fable looks alright but not great (to me). Mass Effect is pretty much the only title that I really wanted, and even if I miss out on 1, I'll be able to get 2 and 3, so I'm good.

I mean don't get me wrong, I can easily see why ppl would want a 360. It's just aht 9 outta 10 exclusives I care for this gen are on the PS3, and everything else is equal inbetween them. You also have to consider trophies, and friendslists. If you become more attached to your Xbox Live identity you'll probably want to buy more 360 multiplat's in order to increase your achievements, and it looks nicer to have a bunch of games with the same logo setting next to eachother on a shelf. Since I'd buy primarily PS3 titles anyway, I'd rather just have one console in my entertainment center, with PS3 logo's facing out on my games rather than clutter it up further with another console just for one game.

BTW, all the systems have their good points. I was just speaking personally. I don't think you could walk away disappointed this gen with any of the systems (I would have said the Wii last year, but they announced a lot of good titles this year). Next gen I might even be willing to get multiple systems again, but this gen I just don't see as much of a reason to.

good , 50 percent failure rates are primarily what kept me away from 360 all this time, glad to hear the numbers are way down

Well, personally, I don't think we'll have to worry about the next gen anytime soon.

Mass Effect is pretty much the only title that I really wanted, and even if I miss out on 1, I'll be able to get 2 and 3, so I'm good..
When I got my PS3, I previously stated that I ran out and got Metal Gear 4, Uncharted 2 and God of War 3 even though I never played Uncharted 1 or God of War 1 and 2. I did play God of War: Chain's of Olympus which is the reason I picked up 3.

On the 360, I love the Splinter Cell, Fable and Gears of War series. But even after playing Conviction, Fable 2 and Gears of War 2, one can easily say, you don't need to really have played the previous games because outside of fun games, it wasn't really necessary.

Mass Effect is different and revolutionary having over 700 choices you made in the 1st game effect how you play the 2nd game.

If they did that with God of War, Fable, etc. you'd bet your ass I would have played the previous games first.

I get what you guys mean about Mass Effect 1, I'm not trying to brush it aside. I'd imagine it's a lot like Dragon Age 1 to 2, which makes me understand why 1 is important. Or maybe more like Dragon Age 1 to Awakenings would be a better example. Playing Awakenings with the generic generated Orlesian Warden rather than the guy I spent dozens of hours playing with just wouldn't feel right.

However from my perspective, I wasn't getting a 360 anyway (atleast at this moment, there's plenty of time for Microsoft to do something so awesome it gets me to buy one), so I was going to miss out on Mass Effect anyway (I mean I could buy it for PC, but not sure mines powerful enough as I haven't upgraded for a bit). So getting 2 and 3 is better than nothing. Never having played 1 means I won't know what I'm missing with the cross game features. However going from 2 to 3 will mean that I'll see it then.

If I had played 1 before and saw what it did for 2 like you guys did, I'm sure I'd feel the same, but I haven't. So 2 to me is good enough as an entry into the series before 3 is better than no entry to it at all.

The connections between Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 are way deeper than any of the Dragon Age games'. You control the same person throughout the ME trilogy, for one thing.

But yeah, as I and others have said, ME 2 is certainly a great, full game in its own right. The experience of it is just very enriched by having played ME first.

I couldn't be happy if I can't punch the same reporter 3 times throughout all 3 games.

Haha, I've neglected to punch her every time. I like to think of my Shep as a little more civilized than that.

That said, I totally gotta play through both games again as a Renegade and knock that b**** out. :hehe:

I couldn't be happy if I can't punch the same reporter 3 times throughout all 3 games.

I can't recall there ever being any fallout from doing that.

You'd think there'd be a headline, "Commander Shepard: Noble Hero, or B**** Slapper? More at 11."

Haha, that would be awesome. "C-Commander Shepard? I'd like an interview, provided you're willing to be civil this time... please?"

:lmao:

I let Balek the Batarian (Bringing Down the Sky) go during Mass Effect 1, I hope they bring him back in the 3rd one or more DLC content for the second game.

And Elnora the Asari (Justicar Recruitment Mission) only to find out she lied to me.

I need closure on those 2. :o

I killed Elnora accidentally the first time around because I reflexively hit the trigger as soon as I saw the interrupt. I felt a lot better when I learned she was a lying bastard. :)

I know in Part 1 one of the guys higher ranked then Sheppard commented on it & said don't worry about it

oh that I did the same as corp . For two reasons I'm a paragon. The second is well I wasn't sure if that was the same reporter I was helping fish out the bad stuff on c sec traffic and so on on the crime in that space city or another dark haired female reporter. I just wasn't sure that was Emily Wong. cause in my game i left on good terms with her. But that may be cause i didn't pick up the DLC in the first game. I bought the game really later when i actually had time for it and the extra cash and that dlc was hard to get at. if that was Emily Wong well not worries when she tried interviewing my Shepard out smarted her and he r reaction after was he sure made me look bad. my guess is it's was like she wanted me to Punch her so it'll make her look good so I thought things were fine after I heard her say that. I guess it doesn't matter ether way then.

I'm expecting something from the shadow broker dlc though I made one renegade thing in the shadow broker owing me a favor. I guess I can extort him or some thing.

Speaking of, I want Lance Henriksen in Mass Effect 3.
Must be some one from the DLC. I have no clue who that is. Well there's one other thing I was hoping for, I gave Kaidan the best specter weapons and adept up grade I could from the last game. Hoping that if you did that he might show up alive some where some how down the line in 2 or 3. I wouldn't mind story like that. It being optional of course.

I've a good feeling that Lance Henriksen will return to do the voice for Admiral Steven Hackett, probably for something like the final battle in the first one, but in a larger scale.

Oh my bad . I for got about the voice actors. though next time when you(not you KALEL talking in general)throw out a name make sure to it make clear who that person played i guess on that the topic you on is voice acting i guess.. I was I kinda limboed there on who that was. thanks for explaining that KALEL.
