Exactly. I got Uncharted with the PS3 I bought a little while before Heavy Rain and now I actually like the Uncharted series even more than Heavy Rain.
And again, my point was that if this hypothetical person who desperately wanted to play ME could afford a PS3, they could probably scrape together the money for a 360 too. It wouldn't necessarily be a taxing purchase for them.
Oh I agree.
I don't know why more people aren't 2 - 3 console gamers.
I mean you are always going to lean more on one than the other. I stopped caring what system got what now that I have the 2 major gaming systems.
Traditionally I am a multi console owner. I had a Sega Master System and an NES, a Genesis and an SNES, a PS1 and eventually an N64 (tho that was late in the N64 cycle), then a PS2 a Gamecube, and even bought an Xbox eventually (wasn't going to but there was one setting in a garage sale I passed by for $10 not too long ago).
The only thing tho is that in the past the consoles were more diverse. The Genesis would get this really awesome X-Men game, and the SNES would get a similar X-Men game but was different in graphics and gameplay. There were clear choices, and plenty of exclusives. Even up to the PS2 generation it was like that, you could get your quirky offbeat titles, God of Wars, Jak's, ect. on your PS2, and get equal quality Nintendo brand stuff on the Gamecube.
This gen however I'm just not interested in Nintendo's offering. I bought a Gamecube basically for Metroid and Zelda, and then it collected dust. While I enjoyed those games, in retrospect it was just a waste of money to buy something for one or two games and then let it set. Then there's PS3 and 360, which get a lot of the same games, so it comes down to the exclusives. Personally, and this is just me, but there's not enough 360 exclusives I care about to warrant another console purchase. I'm not a Halo fan, Gears just doesn't do it for me, I could easily get Left 4 Dead on my PC, and Fable looks alright but not great (to me). Mass Effect is pretty much the only title that I really wanted, and even if I miss out on 1, I'll be able to get 2 and 3, so I'm good.
I mean don't get me wrong, I can easily see why ppl would want a 360. It's just aht 9 outta 10 exclusives I care for this gen are on the PS3, and everything else is equal inbetween them. You also have to consider trophies, and friendslists. If you become more attached to your Xbox Live identity you'll probably want to buy more 360 multiplat's in order to increase your achievements, and it looks nicer to have a bunch of games with the same logo setting next to eachother on a shelf. Since I'd buy primarily PS3 titles anyway, I'd rather just have one console in my entertainment center, with PS3 logo's facing out on my games rather than clutter it up further with another console just for one game.
BTW, all the systems have their good points. I was just speaking personally. I don't think you could walk away disappointed this gen with any of the systems (I would have said the Wii last year, but they announced a lot of good titles this year). Next gen I might even be willing to get multiple systems again, but this gen I just don't see as much of a reason to.
