Coincidentally the lead writer on ME2 was also the guy who handled Garrus and Wrex in ME1.

My Shepard (who is a Soldier) is proficient with the assault rifle (and sniper as secondary), and Wrek is on the squad. I can choose to try to max out Wrek's assault rifle skill, or try to max out on shotgun instead. Is it better to have two characters with different weapon proficiency? Assault rifle is great, but since it is too balanced it isn't as good close-ranged as shotgun, and I always have a problem with enemies rushing toward my position.

Thanks. I still haven't decided whether to max Shepard's sniping skill or not, because I'm always tempted to put pts elsewhere and assault rifle seems like such a great weapon.

Hmm, now I wonder if I should indeed put more pts in the sniping skill or not. Garrus is also a sniper, but now I'm convinced that npc simply don't make good sniper, and I'd free up his skill pts if there's actually a way to reset points.
