This movie was basically The Last Temptation of Caesar.
Haven't seen this yet (my friends unfortunately aren;t interested and no one wants to see this with me) so I may just go by myself this week. Reading your guys' reactions, you guys don't seem quite as unanimous as the critics on this, I've seen a few of you say you were disappointed. What would you say was disappointing?
Pretty much. There is no excuse for a CG character to be the supporting role in their own movie anymore. But Bay just likes to emphasize the wackiness of his human cast.
The slow burn bothered me because I didn't love Caesar's story. His desire for revenge didn't grab me. It was still a good movie, happy I saw it, but it's comfortably my least favorite of the trilogy. Dawn was just so damn good that I don't know what would've topped that for me.

Might be old news, but I just stumbled upon this article where they explain why they didn't bring Koba back. So... if they didn't think he could survive the fall, why have the post credits scene from Dawn?
It seems like they tried to meet it halfway by having the Koba visions.
I really like Bad Ape. I thought they used him sparingly enough to add some comedy without being overbearing. Plus he's cute.

t:I think my biggest issue with the movie was this.
In the movie the human's are building a wall to try to stay safe from the military or something. As a result of that instead of being a war of apes vs humans like you would expect from both like how the last movie ended and with what this movie is called and the marketing it instead fells more like a war between humans vs humans were the Apes just so happened to be in the area some at the time.
Yeah I was kinda disappointed with that too, and have a feeling that it might not go down too well with the GA. But thinking about it, it's really an intelligent approach to film-making and allows space for a character-driven film.
The kids at my showing were wild. Some kid was bouncing a ball (That glowed in the dark)on the way in and out.Another kid was running up the stairs like a dog.It was better than when I went to see Dawn though. That time there was a 2 year old crying the whole way through.
People like that do not think about how their actions affect others. Drives me nuts. rant overNot enough War in War For The Planet of the Apes?Felt like the movie could have had a little more action and also felt like the middle part of the movie didn't have much happing and got kind of boring. The first 1/3 and last 3erd of the movie were much better then the middle 3erd. I think what hurts is the cornal guy is not even close to has good of a character has Kobar was in dawn.

I think you're conflating apes. Blue Eyes is still around, Cornelius is the younger brother who was born sometime before the start of this latest film. Caesar now has two sons.
