Is it just me, or did they change Caesar's face shape between Rise and Dawn?

His face seems longer in Rise. I did think that Rise's special effects looked a noticeable step down from Dawn, but maybe it's just because Caesar looks different.

I just think he looks more "world weary." Kinda like he's carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.

It's 10 years later for starters, and he's gotten older and more weary etc etc.

His face shape is the same, he's just aged and his hair has grown out around his face.

Yeah probably a bit unpopular. Although I can see an argument that Rise was a more "enjoyable" movie than War but not necessarily better.

Dawn really opened it up to a jungle vers of Mad Max not many expected.
Rises was a really good/great experiment gone awry type flick.

It's almost like looking back to simpler times, knowing the rest of Caesar's life now.

I really enjoyed James Franco in the film, and the relationship between his character and Caesar. And nothing in the sequels really hits the high point when Caesar speaks for the first time, for me anyway.

I was 16 when Cloverfield came out and I loved it. I had heard a lot of behind the scenes stories about how they pulled off certain shots and buying the DVD I was really excited to hear the director's commentary. At the time, I was taken aback and disappointed by the extent to which Matt Reeve's focused his commentary on how he charted the character's relationships and scarcely touched on the technical aspects at all. I was of course an idiot as a teenager.

What we have in Matt Reeves is someone who is somewhat quietly quite adept in the technical aspects of film making. He deliver thrilling and inventive sequences (The car crash in Let Me In is pretty intense and at the time there weren't many filmed from inside the car), but in his heart of hearts he is a storyteller that puts the internal and interpersonal strife of characters as his top priority.

While I look forward to seeing what he can do with a Batman film, I'm very interested to see if he will do an original project someday. In the meantime, franchise filmmaking can do little better than Reeves.

But surely you knew the twist that it was Earth all along. It's one of the all-time famous plot twists. Civilization crumbling was the inevitable outcome. The end of Rise literally shows the virus spreading across the world.

I was aware of just that. Like we said earlier how it was mind boggling in this day and age when the CG characters would get this much perspective relative to the audience surrogates.

The BO performance might be bittersweet. The arc had a nice natural conclusion and they'll be no pressure to rush out a sequel just for money's sake.

Also I doubt Reeves would have been back for part 4 anyways.

It's just too bad that Dawn's success seems to be a bit flash in the pan instead of indicative of a growing franchise. This will probably be lucky to finish at 600M.

Yeah its odd this movie is not doing better boxoffice wise I don't really get it. People talk about franchise fatigue a lot something I considered to be nothing more then a annoying fake myth and people talk about way way to much. Normally if a movie in a franchise makes less money then the movie before it is a case of the movie being a lot worse then the movie before, or a reboot something that is always going to turn some people away or a movie that made more money because it was the first one in the franchise and so the hype of not being the first one ever is gone like when the first star wars came out and empire made less. Normally if the movie does not have one of those 3 things agest it is going to make around the same has the one before or even more. This movie dosnt have any have that going agest it. It is not the first the movie is not considered worse then the one before and its not a reboot so yeah I don't get it.

So I just got out and I LOVED it!

I'll tell you what, there have been a few higher profile movies that have been released already that deserve serious consideration for Best Picture Oscars. I know the academy can be stingy when giving blockbusters Best Picture oscars but I think this deserves it. Someone needs to start up the petition for Serkis to be given an honorary oscar this year as well. This was a great trilogy and even if they continue on the first three movies will always be looked at as the Cesar trilogy.

Just saw this today and was kind of shocked at how few people were in the showing with me, but considering how packed this summer has been with good movies, I suppose it isn't all that surprising. It's not like it was sandwiched between two turds and could poach all their s***.

Yeah these studios have to learn that the summer is great for releases but releasing one blockbuster after another isn't doing anyone any favors. I'm trying to keep up but it's been hard especially with Dunkirk and Valerian out this week. My showing was decently filled and received applause at the end.

One who had confidence in their own film. They hold the July 14 spot down since 2015 i think.
