Matthew Vaughn to direct Thor

That's because he hasn't been given the chance.
Everybody thought the same about The Rock, before he was asked to host SNL.

No, it's not that he hasn't been given the chance, it's just that he sucks.

You have to face the fact that Triple H is a horrible actor.

He isn't that bad of an actor. He should stick to wrestling. He does have the look to be Thor though.

HHH would be a better Conan than Thor...

Only judging from him on WWF/WWE, and his part in Blade: Trinity where he was no better than Wesley or Ryan (under Goyer's direction). We seriously don't have too much to judge Trips from, although The Rock was always loads better than him and had alot of energy/charisma.

:o

^ I disagree. Wesley (when on screen in Trinity) did fine.Wesley is Blade period. Triple H is a Wrestler wannabe actor. Now maybe he can pull it off but nothing he's done so far suggests it.

The WWE allows you to show your skills, if you have them.

The whole reason Rock got to the point of hosting SNL was because he showed boatloads of charisma, decent singing ability, and great comedic timing on WWE programming. Face or heel, the Rock showed an ability to get the crowd to eat out of his hand. SNL put him over the top, sure, but he showed some ability live on a weekly basis.

HHH has been a wrestler for a long time, and has been a main eventer for almost a decade. If he hasn't been given the chance to show it by now, he probably doesn't have it to begin with.

Thomas Jane (whos been hitting the weights for almost 2 years for Punisher 2) for Thor, Kevin McKidd for Loki.

Russell Crowe is another good choice but would cost a fortune.

Theres a difference between The Rock and Triple H.

Rocks character in wrestling showed others how well he would project on screen. He also acted more with that character (look at his angle with Mankind) than Triple H who really just stands around wrinkling his brow and acting mean.

I think Ive only seen one of the Rocks movies. But I doubt Triple H can show the wide range of emotions onscreen necessary to carry a movie. ITs one thing to be large and pissed off all the time. Another to convey fear, sorrow, etc convincingly.

I prefer they got a good actor with good genetics and let him build himself up. IMHO Jane is perfect. He's also a fan, evident from his letter to Quint at AICN when he pulled out of Punisher.

I'm not really all that sold on Jean-Paul Levesque playing Thor. Besides, the man is 38 years old. He's practically 40. That's getting up there. Production probably wouldn't start for a while, so I don't think I'd be too keen on seeing someone 40+ playing Thor.

^^^^^^Not that I'm for HHH as Thor or anything but the age thing wouldnt be a problem for some folk on these boards - they still put forward Vladimir Kulich as Thor despite him being over 50.

I agree with you. If age isn't an issue, I'd rather see Vladimir Kulich get the nod than Jean-Paul Levesque. Unfortunately, Hollywood will likely get somebody in their early 20's to play the role.

Well, the script seems to be about a young and brash Thor, so even McKidd could be too old.

What about nearly-Superman/nearly-James Bond Henry Cavill as Thor?

and Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Loki?

I could definitely see Rhys Meyers, but I'm not sure about Cavill.

I say they use the "young pretty boy" casting for Donald Blake, assuming he'll be in the movie.

Not that I support Triple H as Thor, but what is all of this nonsense about him not being able to act. What do you think his job is?

Act. But badly. Well okay, he can play good angry person. But that's about it.

HHH would be a better Conan than Thor...

Anyone who thinks that most likely has never read a Conan novel in their lives.

HHH could probably grunt and fight like Schwartzenegger did in that horrendous MOVIE, but the actual character of Conan as written by Robert E. Howard is a hell of a lot more complex than THAT.

I agree, and even the Savage Sword of Conan b&W magazines were a lot better than that horrible rendition Arnold gave. I can't see Jean-Paul doing the character justice.
