Matt's Thread of Racing...

I think the drivers need a week off after the Daytona 500. The winner has to travel to New York City and do all sorts of interviews. Although, my arguement here might not hold up since Matt Kenseth won the first two races.

Congrats to Stewart. What an exciting All-Star race. Bringing back the 10 lap segment at the end was brilliant. I told my friends that Ryan Newman would win this race. He came pretty darn close. He's my pick for the Coca-Cola 600.

Agreed. That was an incredible All-Star race, from Kyle going three wide to Gordon wrecking to Stewart taking the lead. Great stuff.

Count me among the fools that thought Stewart would struggle this year with the new team but that guy is simply way too talented to bet against.

I don't know why people thought he would struggle. He went to an organazation who's basically powered by Hendrick.

He's starting on pole. I think he has a nice chance to win.

Pick to win - Ryan Newman
Darkhorse - Juan Pablo Montoya

Damn! I wanted Tony Kanan to win the Indianapolis 500. :csad: Glad he's alright after that accident.

That was a rough hit into the wall. I'd drive a Nascar before I ever race in an Indy Car because I don't think I could stand how vulnerable you seem to be when you wreck. The two drivers that got together near the end of the race was sick too.

The 600 might get in with about a 50% chance of showers.

Winner- Tony Stewart
Darkhorse - Bobby Labonte

I was hoping Danica Patrick would get the win.

Kanan's accident was a bad one. I was glad to see he's ok too.

David Reutimann and Marcus Ambrose have really impressed me this year. I wouldn't be surprised to see either of them get in victory lane. Ambrose I'm leaning more towards winning on a road course.

Not how I imagined it, but congrats to David Reuitmann and MWR. Really exciting to see a first time winner.

Hendrick seems to want to pull the plug on Tony Eury Jr. I hope he does. SOMETHING needs to change over there.

I agree that it wasn't just luck, but a brilliant call by Reutimann's crew chief to leave him out and eventually get him the win. Hopefully this propels Ambrose further as well, who I see claiming one of the road courses.

Tony Eury Jr. is OUT as Earnhardt Jr's crew chief. Lance McGrew will be taking over at Pocono on June 7th. Get ready for ESPN's NASCAR coverage to be about nothing but...Chief-gate(?) all the way through Dover and Pocono.

Hendrick has Lance McGrew on the #25 team the Brad Keselowski ran tonight in the cup race if i'm not mistaken. McGrew worked with Brian Vickers in the Nationwide series and they won a championship together. I think he would be a great replacement. He also got Vickers to his first win at Talladega.

Dale Jr. will be running a lot better IMO. This was a great move. They can't wait any longer or he'll be out of the chase.

Can you throw some lottery numbers out there? Just for the hell of it???

Powerball? 3, 8, 13, 18, 33 (9)

Dover:

Pick to win - Carl Edwards
Darkhorse - Jamie McMurray

I agree. I thought he wouldn't make it, but that was a superb piece of driving to get back to the front. The summer stretch really picks up now with Nascar switching to TNT/NBC and Daytona around the corner.

NASCAR needs to do something with their TV coverage.....some races on ESPN, some on Fox, some on TNT....its stupid

FOX does their coverage from Daytona til usually the week before the second Daytona race, then TNT/NBC take over for the summer, with ESPN getting the Chase to the Championship and a few other summer races. I agree that they need to find one network that can cover most or all of the season.

NASCAR is big enough at this point where they can say that their tv coverage goes to the highest bidder....one network for all the races

NBC doesn't have NASCAR coverage anymore. All the races are on TNT untill the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. Then ESPN takes over untill the Richmond race. Then the races will all be on ABC. If Fox replaced Darrell Waltrip with Kyle Petty, it would be a whole lot better. I really can't stand D.W that much.

NASCAR is about to get more exciting.

I'm interested to see how this turns out. It worked great in the All-Star Race.

Damn, NASCAR finally makes a good change to their race format. I'm very intrigued to see where this goes, especially lapped cars staying out under caution to get a lap back.

Kyle Busch just broke his trophy that he won at Nashville on purpose. (He won a guitar.). I kinda find that disrespectful to the people who made that and the people who present it to him. If he didn't want it, he could have sold it on EBay and gave the money to charity. What an ass.

Yeah, I think he was going for a more "Rockstar" celebration, but I can already see the backlash from doing that only adding to his "Bad Boy" image. I figure if there's enough of an uproar, then I figure he'll sign it and sell it on Ebay. I thought it was disrespectful and a bit immature, especially considering those guitars probably cost quite a bit to make.
