World MCG suit design

ok i'll stop asking the questions... he's probably gonna get a load, i'm not interested in material or anything like that

I was just hoping to find a out a little more detail on look, cuz it seems the Ratner suit and the McG suits were very very different from each other

$$But I did see and touch the Stan Winston suit...IT SUCKED.
REAL HARD. I have no clue what they were thinking with that design.
I heard he got almost a million dollard just for that ***** prototype.
Im sure it will pop up online some day.
Trust...U will throw up in your mouth a little after seeing it.

Don't wannt to be a pain in the ass but what was wrong with the Stan Winston suit? Because a couple of his designs for the suit have leaked online and they look pretty similair to the one you're raving about.

Thanks for the interesting bits of trivia Wams.

Yes, they do sound different and i'd love to see what they looked like.

The lady who designed costumes when Ratner was initially on Superman briefly mentions her Superpast in this interview.

From Jackiechan.com(Interviews With the Rush Hour 3 Crew):

Betsy Heimann, Costume Designer

Betsy is responsible for creating every costume worn by an actor in the film. She has been in the business for about twenty-five years.
It’s been fantastic. I’ve had a really good time. It’s a bigger design job than I thought going in. I learned a lot about what it would be like to work with Jackie. We made all his suits. He has a standing suit, an action suit and various suits for various stunts. They all have to look the same but must accommodate his needs.
The Follies (a legendary French Theater where Jackie and Chris go to seek a clue in the mystery they are solving) was a lot of fun for me…the gangster outfits. I took the job because Brett asked me. We worked on a few films together but I’ve never done this kind of film. We started Superman but didn’t finish it. It turned out to be really exciting and challenging.

So, this was the final suit for McG's Superman after all? Always figured as much...

Thats the problem with not having the red pants the blues just too much plus that suit just looks so gay.

Not sure of it's validity, but looks legit...

McG's Superman suit (sans the cape)...?

THAT'S IT!!!!!!!!!!!:word:

Not impressed. It's way too basic and bland.

Nothing basic and or bland about it.
That pic is not doing it justice....I saw it in person.
It's AWESOME.
It would only be that much better lit and filmed.:word:

I love the colors on that suit. I miss the red undies and boots but I wouldn't be too upset if they used this costume for a new film.

It looks...different.
I guess the suit would have looked better with the cape and properly lit.
But I don't really like that design.

It looks a little over-sculpted, and I think it really needs the red tights. Beautiful blue though.

I think we need a manip, or fan art, of the costume in a pose and in an action pose, to truly see the costume.

Thought I'd bump this thread in view of DC's new Superman suit design. Looks like it was definitely influenced by this film suit design for the McG project that never was. I wonder if they are going back to this for the new film.

The craftsmanship is mint, but I'm glad they never used it.

Routh talks about wearing that suit for McG and producers here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WpvC3Rdo4w

The last bit that fan said to Brandon gave me tingles down my spine because its so true I loved BR's reaction to it:

"The film made a lot of money all over the world, and even though it's budget was unfairly burdened with the debt from previous attempts of making Superman films ... LASTLY not only did the film have plenty enough action for my taste, but it also had the most important ingredient that a Superman film has to have, heart. And you sir, are the heart and soul of that wonderful film.

... people who want non-stop, mindless, shallow action in their Superhero movies, can have the Zack Synder movie, as for me I like my heroes with emotional depth and you brought that and so many new layers to the Man of Steel, thank you for giving us the majestic and thoughtful movie known as ... SUPERMAN RETURNS".

It was so thrilling to hear someone say this Brandon, I had to transcribe it.

it's interesting to see that Brandon Routh thinks his version of Superman was better than Snyder's, even though Snyder's movie hasn't even come out yet...

pretty snobby if you ask me

Pfft.

It was thrilling to hear and I'm sure Brandon appreciated it. I think the fan was being presumptive in stating Snyder's take would be a "midless action" film, but I liked his overall message.

How do you know what Routh is thinking? All he was doing was listening to what the fan was saying.

No its not. Because that's not what Br said, its what a fan said, with a strong Texas accent. Br was gracious and simply listened along. The man has class, and comes off as a nice person, which puts him at #1 in my book.

True, Im looking forward to the new movie as much as anyone, and yes I think that was a bit of a premature statement, but again, BR just politely listened. The new Super movie has a great cast, and probably will do ver well, better than SR,

but I think the fan was just passionate about the fact that BRANDON ROUTH has great potential as Superman and was basically unfairly treated because of the fault of other peoples storytelling or mis-guided directing abilities.

Bring routh back for the JL movie.

Exactly
