Alfred is the only one sane enough to use an umbrella. :D

I'm still thinking that Alfred quits. Everything is really pointing to that.

NEVAH!!

Alfred won't quit, he can't quit. His whole "being" is standing by Bruce no matter what. If Bruce were to go to jail, I'm sure Alfred would punch a cop in the face in order to be in the same cell. He gave an oath to protect Bruce, to watch after him, to be there for all times. He won't quit, Alfred never quits.

[BLACKOUT]He will die though. I'm pretty sure of that.[/BLACKOUT]

If Alfred does die, I hope he goes out like the bad ass he is. Use that SAS training and take some of Bane's men to hell with him :word:

Alfred is the real hero of the trilogy. In the end, he will triumph.

He quit in the comics. More than once. So yeah, Alfred does quit. But it's because he can't stand by while watching Bruce ruin himself.

That's true, but in the end, he doesn't really quit. He's always there. Even when he was dead in the sixties, he didn't quit forever ^^

I never meant that he was going to quit forever. But I'm saying it seems pretty likely that he may, at one point in this film, resign from his position in this film. I can see that happening more than I can see him dying, personally.

I mean, he quit in Knightfall... which was very obviously a heavy influence on this film. So the fact that people keep on just pushing the possibility of him quitting in TDKR aside and saying "ALFRED WOULD NEVER QUIT!" is ridiculous. It's like all the people that are saying "BRUCE WOULD NEVER RETIRE FROM BEING BATMAN!"... HELLO! he retired in TDKReturns, which was also very obviously a huge influence on this film.

don't take it too seriously, I was merely joking about the "Nevah" thing.

I wasn't referring to you. Didn't mean to make it seem like I was arguing with you. It just keeps aggravating me when there's a ton of people that aren't open to more possibilities than what's been rumored, especially when there's substantial evidence to justify another possiblity.

Alfred walks away from Bruce in Batman Venom as well, when it becomes apparent Bruce has lost himself to drug addiction and won't listen.

What a legend the perfect Alfred

Nolan is a master of perfect casting choices. Guy Pearce in Memento, Christian Bale as Bruce/Batman,...

Hell, he even made Hilary Swank look like a good actress.

[BLACKOUT]Screw Bruce for leaving Alfred and for allowing, even for a moment, that he failed him. Such a sad moment seeing him cry at the gravestones. Bruce not only left his city, but he left the man who acted as his heart. I can't believe that.[/BLACKOUT]

That's Nolan for ya.

Bruce went to the diner where Alfred said he would always go to prove to him that he did not fail and that in fact Alfred's wish for his future came true. Alfred leaving Bruce did what Alfred meant for it to do. In KNIGHTFALL Bruce falls apart psychologically which enables Bane to break him. The same thing happened here. Bruce lost everything. He died in spirit which led to him being broken. But, in the end, after hitting rock bottom as Alfred knew he would eventually need to get to - he was able to rise.
