Homecoming Michael Giacchino is the Composer for Spider-Man: Homecoming

Excited to hear what Giacchino comes up with.

Can't wait to see Doctor Strange to get a sneak peek at Giacchino. Have yet to see any of the new Star Trek movies.

Is Michael Giacchino's orchestral version of the 60's Spider-Man cartoon theme that he did for comic-con potentially a good glimpse at the official main theme for Marvel Studios' Spider-Man Homecoming?

Hopefully he does a better job than Doctor Strange. I want Spider-Man to have his own iconic theme. I think Danny Elfman's Spider-Man theme was underrated. At least Spider-Man had a theme in that film, and there was a romantic theme as well.

I also want opening credits and an opening credit theme music.

I'm listening to some of his work right now, and you know why I find this ironically fitting?
I remember a video made as tribute to the first cinematic trilogy, on the "There is a hero in all of us" speech the video maker used a theme from Lost, and you don't need to guess who composed the music for that. (I never knew before this moment, and honestly never watched LOST)

This guy to compose soundtrack for characters created by Steve Ditko and Stan Lee. :D

Wasn't wow'd by the score in Dr. Strange. Can't remember one track lol. Just being honest.

Giacchino has a HIGH bar to meet. He's following the footsteps of Elfman, Christopher Young, the late James Horner, AND Hans Zimmer.

Elfman's Spidey scores had numerous themes: the main theme, love theme, conflicted Peter, sad MJ, Green Goblin, Doc Ock. I really love his Spider-Man 2 score.

Spider-Man 3 composer Chris Young doesn't get enough appreciation IMO. He took Elfman's themes and expanded on them, especially his arrangement of the main titles sequence. His new themes were in the same family, and I loved how he twisted Elfman's Spider-Man theme into Venom's theme (i.e. the church tower sequence). He wrote some great stuff discarded by the film's producers who wanted more of Elfman's themes integrated into the film. I really want an official OST release of that score, which won't happen. (Sony offered to do a score release for the film, but wanted him to omit the Elfman material. Young refused.)

Kevin Feige said that Spider-Man 2 set a high bar that he wanted to achieve with SMH, or something to that effect. I don't know if that will extend to an opening credit sequence or not.

Loved Young's Spider-Man 3 score as well, especially the symbiote tracks.

I'll never understand why they didn't continue the theme created by Horner in TASM2. But that aside, I hope Giacchino comes up with a beautiful score for this film.

Elfman (Young included) had identifiable themes for Peter Parker, for his MJ scenes, for Spider-Man, for each specific villain, and that's what is missing from most comic book films these days.

Horner left because he thought that the script for TASM2 was rubbish, and apparently Sony wanted their next score to be more Zimmerized, although I'll give Hans credit he tried something a bit different. I don't think it entirely worked (the main theme reminded me way too much of the Olympics), but I must admit I did enjoy the "love theme".

I agree about the character theme, most superhero scores from the 80's, 90's, and mid 2000's follow that same tradition as well. It wasn't until as of late that lacking themes became a go-to thing in Hollywood because they prefer a lot of their music to be more subdued and a bit more like background noise.

I was hoping that Zimmer would take Horner's theme and mix it up a little bit. But that's all in the past now.

For modern comic book films, I think that the Avengers has a really good score though.

Cap 1, The Incredible Hulk, Thor 1 also have some pretty good music too. Thor 1 even attempts to have an actual love theme (kudos Mr. Doyle).

X-Men: Apocalypse was also another surprised. It's not as grand or well-done as X3, but I thought Ottman did a pretty good job with the music, and it's an improvement after the disappointing that was DOFP (didn't hate that score, but it was obvious that they temp-tracked it with Time).

The Incredible Hulk had a good score, I agree. I also liked that it had some of the music from the Lou Ferrigno TV series.

It wasn't as bold as Elfman's Hulk score (which is him attempting to be un Elfman, as per Lee's request), but Craig Robinson's work was very effective. I do like that he referenced The Lonely Man from The Hulk film, but I also liked the delicate piano piece he gave for Betty and Bruce, that was used throughout the score as a mean of mourning / regret. Good stuff.

Yep, I remember liking all of those. The Incredible Hulk is one underrated, forgotten movie. :(

It's a messy film, and it feels different from the rest of the MCU, which along with it's relative box office failure, has led Marvel to sorta ignoring it, but there are aspects of it I like. Bruce and Betty's relationship feels very authentic, and it's a shame that Betty's mostly been ignored, considering that General Ross got to finally come back in Civil War.

I don't find The Incredible Hulk to be "messy," but I found it to be a little understated. Unmemorable I guess. It deserves a sequel.

Listened to the main theme from Strange and the majority of the soundtrack. I could definately see him doing something form spider-man.

Hopefully Spider-Man has alot of guitar action in the score. Thats something I liked that Michael did in the Strange OST. And they also did in Spectacular Spider-Man.
