I think what DorkyFresh is talking about is when Hollywood makes movies that are asian influenced, caucasians are usually cast to play LEAD roles instead of asian actors. Therefore if I want to watch a movie about asian culture (regardless if its fictional or historical), I expect to see asian people playing lead roles.

The funniest part of Be Kind Rewind was Danny Glover trying to explain to Jack Black why he couldn't play a black guy.People say that we as black people cry racism all the time, but we don't have white guys playing our roles, do we?
*ahem* tropical thunder...People say that we as black people cry racism all the time, but we don't have white guys playing our roles, do we?
Wow so i guess after his career was resurected he feels its time to put it back in the ground?
Agreed. Having said that though, this movie is doomed. While we're at it, let's have Phillip Seymour Hoffman play Martin Luther King Jr! After all, makeup has gotten a lot better now, so a White actor can play a Black man without it being offensive, right?
Seriously, NO major studio in this day and age would EVER consider casting a White actor as a Black historical figure like MLK, George Washington Carver, or Booker T. Washington and using makeup to make him look "role appropriate." If they did, they'd be run out of town. And yet with a role like Gengis Khan, it's pretty much assumed by default that the actor playing him will be White wearing "squint makeup." This absurd, offensive double standard needs to stop.
Thus proving people really don't change.
I remember all those jokes about Minorities being the first to die in entertainment. I used to laugh.
Now I notice when here someone is going to die on TV or film. Who dies? The minority most times more then not.
san15;18277961 Therefore if I want to watch a movie about asian culture (regardless if its fictional or historical) said:And if it's a Hollywood film about the Asian culture you throw it in the garbage, and watch a Zhang Yimou Film instead!t:
This reminds me of the time I went to Hong Kong, and Jackie chan was starring in "The American Empire" where Jackie was George Washington.![]()
