i feel as if this guy is WAAAYYY too underappreciated. most people would recognize this guy as the singer from faith no more
( or if you're really that clueless , the guys who made this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AMS3XNK9CU ) , but he's done so much more that i'd say proves that he's probably one of the most versatile and hardest working men in the music industry alive today. so , this thread goes out to you, mike !!!

Titan, you know how I feel about Patton. I truly believe he is the greatest artist of our time. His vocal range and the style of music that he can do are unparalleled. Each works of his are different from band to band, ranging from "noise" to very commercial music. There is something to enjoy on all mediums, and highly suggest that you give him a listen.

Some of his projects include:
Mr. Bungle (totally awesome)
Faith No More (borderline commercial, but easy to get into)
Fantomas
Tomahawk
Peeping Tom
Moonraker
Various works with Naked City, John Zorn, and Dillinger Escape Plan.

EDIT:
I also want to add that he is amazing to see live. He can work the crowd, and really get you into what he is doing. He has such an energy that is like no other. At one point in time, Faith No More was very popular and mainstream, going multi-platinum with the releas of "The Real Thing," Faith No More's first album after replacing their old singer with Patton. Then fast forward three years later, and in 1992, "Angel Dust" was released. It was far from mainstream, and pushed innovation to the max with their influence on many bands such as Incubus and System of a Down.

If it wasn't for Patton willingly taking himself out of the spotlight, he would be more recognized for his contributions to the music industry.

did i tell you guys that he can scat like a mother****er ?

From FNM's own wesbite about the reunion:

Faith No More has always stood out as some sort of unique beast; part dog, part cat–its music almost as schizophrenic as the personalities of its members. When it all worked, it worked really well, even if the chemistry was always volatile. Throughout our 17years of existence, the mental and physical energy required to sustain this creature was considerable and relentless. Though amicable enough, when we finally split, we all followed paths seemingly destined to opposite ends of the universe.

Yet during the entire 10 years that have passed since our decision to break up we’ve experienced constant rumors and requests from fans and promoters alike. Nevertheless, for whatever reason, none of us kept in regular touch, much less to discuss any possibilities of getting together.

What’s changed is that this year, for the first time, we’ve all decided to sit down together and talk about it. And what we’ve discovered is that time has afforded us enough distance to look back on our years together through a clearer lens and made us realize that through all the hard work, the music still sounds good, and we are beginning to appreciate the fact that we might have actually done something right.

Meanwhile we find ourselves at a moment in time with zero label obligations, still young and strong enough to deliver a kickass set, with enthusiasm to not only revisit our past but possibly add something to the present. And so with this we’ve decided to hold our collective breaths and jump off this cliff….
BACK, GOD FORBID, INTO THE MONKEY CAGE!!!

We can only hope that the experience of playing together again will yield results erratic and unpredictable enough to live up to the legacy of FNM.
Who know where this will end or what it will bring up…only the future knows. But we are about to find out!

FAITH NO MORE are:
Mike Bordin, Roddy Bottum, Bill Gould, Jon Hudson and Mike Patton

I fully believe that Patton is one of the most talented vocal artists alive today.
As someone has mentioned before, his vocal range is incredible and can maintain this talent in an almost unlimited amount of different musical styles.
He's far too under appreciated outside of "indie" or "rock" circles.

It's a rare thing when a band and the singer can do different genres for each song, let alone in the same song.

Patton is awesome. I'm hoping FNM do more than festival shows on this reunion. I'd love to see them live again.

I wouldn't mind another studio album, but I don't think that will happen

I never even thought of that. That would be very cool and who knows maybe after these dates they might consider doing another studio album.
I live in hope at least.

here's another great song mike did for the movie " body of lies " . serj tankian sings in it too :

It would be awesome. If something clicks on tour, I think it could be a huge possibility.

They're all busy with their own projects, though, so we'll see.

i think i should give fantomas' " delerium cordia " a good long listen some time . i only heard the beginning of it , really.

It's really hard to get into if you don't just sit with the intention of listening to it. It's only one track, so you can't really skip tracks, and it's not like their other albums at all.

The concept of it is genius, though, as it's someone being operated on without surgery, so it's kind of the mind of the patient while everything is going on.

i know all this .... i just can't find a place to download or just simply listen to the entire thing.
