Though I miss Peter Parker, I am loving this new character and book! USM was starting to get old during the Avengers training. Kinda want the animated series to be about him than Pete honestly...

Yeah, I'm liking the character so far. I like that he seems to be really chill for the most part. Cool costume design and new powers. Even if I hate the pacing (4 issues and he isn't in HIS costume yet), the new series has been great.

Miles is actually kinda badass. See what he does when he's feeling bad? He doesn't crack jokes or whine to us readers, he does what men should do; let the sorrow and anger rot away at his insides until he dies an early death.

I agree, and although Miles is not totally fleshed out as a character yet- you can feel the soul of his character in issue 4. He is definitely different from Peter Parker, due to the way he was characterized by Bendis- a whiny SPAZIOD superhero. LOL. But they're both smart kids, although Peter's definitely Miles superior in that department- and they both have a support system to lean on as well. I'm sure Miles will be fighting all of Peter's enemies, so i'm looking forward to how he fairs against them all- although it sucks that Doc Ock is dead. Booo!

Um, Peter Parker has been a whiny weirdo since Stan Lee created him.

I agree and diagree with that comment bruh. The way Stan characterized Peter was more heartfelt. Because here's a guy who had the wieght of the world on his shoulders taking care of his Aunt after his Uncle is murdered, as well as being gifted with incredible abilities, and yet he never acted out the way Bendis' Peter Parker did. All that crying, and cursing and what not. LOL. Granted, i'm talking about the SAME dude- however one Parker handled his adversities with a tad more gracefully.

1. Never call me "bruh" again, Blaquey.

2. I agree, Stan's characterization was more heartfelt. But he was still whiny. Especially when compared to other comic book characters who had just as much - if not more - bad things happen to them. But that's just who Peter is.

Ultimate Peter--from what I remember, waaaay back toward the first few dozen issues of USM--was basically just Stan's whiny, archetypal nerd Peter with the angst cranked up to 11 for modernity's sake. It made sense, but he could be insufferable at times.

I haven't read this but I'm curious: Is Miles nerdy like Parker and how does he compare to Static personality wise?

He's nerdy enough to dress up as Frodo for Halloween, but he isn't as smart as Peter was.

He isnt smarter than Peter...yet. The dudes 13. Though he is smart enough not to fail out of the charter school. Im glad Spider-Girl is back and hopefully will serve as a mentor to Miles. I do agree We need 5 to 7 years of comics before Miles gets his own show though.

I have been a huge Spider-man fan for many many years. The gem of my collection is a complete run of all Spider-man titles. I've stuck with him through the good and the bad (and the absolutely horrible). Ultimate Universe has always been a (sometimes) interesting alternative to (the much preferred) mainstream Marvel Universe. The addition of Miles Morales is something that I find intriguing and have every intention of following (though I'm grateful we still have Mr. Parker in the "real" M.U.) What I found a bit audacious was the statement "The future of Marvel is Miles Morales. And he's exactly who Spider-man should be in 2011". Just to assuage my own curiosity, I feel compelled to ask "why"? What's so wrong with Peter (arguably Marvel's most iconic character)? I'm sincere in my curiosity and this is not intended as sarcasm or a slight to this take on Spider-man.

Hah. :woot:

Your username is kind of a get out of jail free card. :o

Hmmm. I think i got what you're implying to, but on the other hand- i do hope you aren't going THERE. (But we're good man)

Hi guys, I am new here. Here in the netherlands we don't have this new spiderman series. Is it true that Miles Morales is actualy a gay teen? How well has that been acepted so far?

Can anybody tell me how I can create a tagg line here? I can't seem to find the right button

I like the character a lot. I like his environment in the dormitory as different. I just wish the book moved faster.

As far as I know there's no indication that he's gay. The big hubbub was about him being half black half latino. So far the reception by comic readers anyways has been very good.
