We have dealt with double agents, biological terrorism, an arms dealer who launched an attack on a civilian population within the US.

Plenty of nuclear threats, stolen nuclear launch codes, stolen plutonium, too.
and we have an international crime syndicate.

Personally, I hope that the Involvement of Kittredge means that this story is linked to a past case, perhaps even Ethan's first. I hope that we get to see Claire and Phelps maybe even Jack, in flashbacks.

This afternoon, Paramount issued the following statement: “Out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of our cast and crew, and efforts of the local Venetian government to halt public gatherings in response to the threat of coronavirus, we are altering the production plan for our three week shoot in Venice, the scheduled first leg of an extensive production for Mission: Impossible 7. During this hiatus we want to be mindful of the concerns of the crew and are allowing them to return home until production starts. We will continue to monitor this situation, and work alongside health and government officials as it evolves.”

I seriously doubt the Coronavirus situation is going to be any better any time soon. If anything the situation will probably be worse the longer they wait. So this delay is probably useless as far as protecting the crew is concerned. Might as well cancel the Venice shoot entirely or get on with shooting now.

Yep. Today, IOC member Dick Pound (yes, that's his name... check out all the tweets about him today on Twitter for a good laugh) said they may have to cancel the Olympics. This thing could tank the world economy if they don't contain it.

I definitely didn't notice the effect (or the mistake) until I watched the film with McQuarrie and Cruise's commentary. I think it was McQ them pointed out. I love old school filmmaking tricks like that.
