Action-Adventure Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning/The Final Reckoning

Cruise didn't say anything that wasn't true. Someone has to make sure crew members adhere to protocols, if not the directors and producers, though I'm sure they're doing that as well.

Though this could've used more "Ah dah dah dah dah, like this in the background," though.

Cruise is an executive producer, his own studio produces the MI films, and he puts own cash into these films. He may not be the director, but he's for all intents and purposes the boss on these films. And he has input in all parts of the production. I really can't think of anyone on the MI set who is more authorized to chew the crew out and enforce COVID regulations.

Wow. Okay just heard it. He's not wrong. If they shutdown the movie then there's no work for alot of people

but he makes it sound like they're the last movie to still be filming. Everyone else has closed down.

I get the urgency though.

I bet there's going to be another audio of him yelling at the person who leaked the audio.

"Was it you? You? You?"

Tom Cruise to whoever leaked the audio:

Surprised he's taking COVID rules seriously, due to the fact that he's a Scientologist and they probably don't believe in COVID regulations. However, he's likely doing this for the crew and the rest of the cast, many of whom are not scientologists

I mean, I'd be all prepared to declare Tom Cruise the mad man we all know he is, but not based on this audio. Dude put up his own money to pay for cruise ships to keep the cast and crew safe and quarantined on during filming in Norway, so if they were repeatedly flouting safety protocols (and it sounds like this was far from the first time he's addressed the issue to them) after that, then yeah, I'd probably hulk out, too.

I also think this probably wasn't the first time he had to warn them. Apparently the production was shutdown before due to an outbreak, so you know he doesn't want to go through that again.

Cruise had every right to go off on those people. Sometimes it takes a kick in the a** to get it through people's heads to start flying right.

The people he yelled at still have jobs, while countless other businesses and employees who have followed the guidelines have still be had to shut down, and have gone out of business as a result of the shut downs.

This isn't a Christian Bale situation. I think you'd be hard press to make Cruise the bad guy in this circumstance.

Oh people will definitely make Tom look like the bad guy here. You already see it in Twitter. Sorry but nope, I completely agree with him on this.

Sounds unfair to me that Hollywood bigwigs get preferential treatment.

Which thing are you referring to when talking about preferential treatment?

If you're talking about some other businesses which getting shutdown while Hollywood continues to make movies and stays open, then yeah, I agree with you.

Especially here in California were they get alot of perks that alot of other what I would consider essential businesses aren't getting , and their employees and their families are getting the shaft this Christmas.

But I'm not gonna get fully into that on this thread.

Yeah. I mean, I'm not claiming he's a saint in general, but on this , I agree with him.

As both a Tom Cruise fan and a manager in charge of a department, I'm 100% on his side here. I struggle getting my guys to see big pictures, not just for their projects, but also what's going on with our company, the companies we work with, and our industry. We're essential, and haven't been affected too much by all this (for which I know I'm lucky as hell and very grateful). I can only imagine the weight on his shoulders, given the precipice the film industry is on.

Yes all of this.

I can sort of understand it if there were repeated offenses and this is sort of a last resort moment. At the same time, I didn't see what ticked him either.

However, if Cruise was a teacher, if he was wrong or not, in some districts, he'd be fired right now.

Tom Cruise has more initiative in curbing the effects of the pandemic than some head of states. I don't see what the fuss is all about; making a mountain out of a molehill with this one.

Oh sure, yeah. Not to downplay Cruise's level of influence at all, no. Just that I would think the first, go-to person in these sorts of scenarios would be the director.

Tom Cruise was absolutely right. As someone who has physically been back working on site (not from home) since May with COVID safety protocols in place, I really appreciate and completely understand his frustration. Completely different from Christian Bale's Terminator meltdown.

This is called being a boss and a leader, and holding people responsible for their actions. He didn't belittle, disparage, or insult anyone personally. He wasn't ranting about how this would effect him or his own wallet. He was frustrated because one **** up or lapse in judgement with these safety protocols could have wide-ranging ramifications. Not only could it spread the virus and get people sick, but it could shut down the production, put hundreds (if not thousands) or people out of work, delay the movie (which would hurt the theater industry), force the movie to streaming, or even affect the productions of other films that are currently filming. He said all of this out of a clear desire to protect his crew, his production (business and livelihood of many other people), and his industry as a whole.

As the producer, face, and driving force behind this iconic franchise, Cruise is essentially helping to run a business. These kind of interactions happen all of the time in workplace environments and businesses, and are sometimes completely necessary to make a point and force employees to take things seriously if they are dropping the ball or putting the business itself at risk. The fact that someone on the crew even felt the need to record and leak this to the press is shameful, IMO.

I live in New Zealand. Life here is back to normal because we shut the country down early and people followed the rules. Tom Cruise is 100% right here, covid is no joke - those people are lucky they aren't straight up fired, and just had a very angry warning. While it's not very professional, covid safety protocols are literally a matter of life and death ( and the studio probably has 200 million dollars invested in the film- way too much to let a couple of morons mess it up).

If he were talking to kids like this, then sure. But he’s not a teacher, and he’s not talking to kids. He’s talking to grown ass adults who apparently have no problem risking a whole lot of other people’s lives and livelihoods.
