Moderators Anonymous {MA} All former mods welcomed.

Yeah, last night he said Cyclops.

Whatever happened to Joey Freefall? :(

People should never constantly ask to be made a mod.....it automaticly lessens their chances.

I kinda fell into the job the first time I was a mod for the RPG forum. They needed a mod and I was there so Hype and I both agreed that I would get the job.

The 2nd time, For the Superman forum, Came out of the blue. I wasn't expecting it nor did I ask for it. One day I got a PM from one of the big wigs, {I forget which one it was} asking if I would like to be the mod for the Supes forum. I said sure, Why not? and the rest is history.:woot:

BTW I never properly thanked you for all the help you gave me back then. Without your backup I think I would have gone crazy with all the BS that was going on in the supes forum at the time.:wow::woot:

Thank you.

I think being a mod is a bit of a shame, you take these one time kick ass posters that are well known for cutting back and chilling and you make them coporate puppets with the man and have them have confrontations with other kick ass posters which eventually leads to the forums having less kick ass posters.

it goes from true moderation to control and cencorship. The majority of moderators are kinda scared of chaos or letting situations die out on their own accord. If this was all occurring face to face, I would really hate for people to step into discussions or confrontations until the root issues of things are resolved. Sometimes you gottal let things burn out on their own without any interference.

apart from corp, i think the majority of moderators on here have changed somewhat during and after their positions on this site, you're all neutered versions of your former selves.

Such is the price to pay for order.

You're welcome :yay: I remember how crazy it got before and after the movie :hehe:

I think quite a few moderators have abused their power and while they made decent posters once upon a time, they've made crappy moderators.

So there is ass kissing involved.

Oh, very much so. Mine was covered with kisses...both cheeks actually.

I'd consider it if I had full mod powers but I wouldn't want to do it if it was like before with the Superman forum or the first Hype RPG game forum.

When I was mod for the Superman forum all I could do was delete threads or move them around. I had no power outside of that forum and if someone acted up all I could do was ask them to stop. If that didn't work I would have to wait till another mod come on and ask them to put the poster on probation or ban them.

It got old fast. If it wasn't for C Lee's help I would have quit long before I did.

It was kinda the same story with the RPG forum. I had no real power there either but at the time it didn't bother me that much. The reason I quit the RPG forum was because I sucked at the game and felt that the forum needed someone who knew what he was doing.

If they asked me I'd probably do it but I'm not looking for the job.

Really?

I'd come back too...almost in a heartbeat. For all the petty crap I got over silly issues, I actually enjoyed working for Mirko, the majority of the staff and the users. I haven't really released the reasons for my abrupt resignation--except to Hunter. I'm thinking about whether I'd want to discuss it here, though I doubt anyone really would care anyway. :whatever:

One of the reasons I can say though had to do with the subject matter I was moderating at the time. After the failures of Fantastic Four 2 and X-Men 3 my enthusiasm for moderating waned big time. Marvel doesn't really have anything coming out that remotely interests me enough to take up the job again. For me, I have to be fully engrossed in the subject matter of the forum because that's what keeps me modding at 2, 3, 4AM in the morning...for free. ;)

Joey is still around. I've managed to keep in contact with him via IM, although I must admit it's been a few months since our last convo. He's doing animation and online cartoons.

Meh. I'm definitely not some "neutered" version of the pre-mod LS. If anything, some have told me I'm actually more outspoken now.

However, there is some validity to the rest of your statements, except your last sentence. I think the biggest price a mod--or former mod--pays, is strained relationships with former friends here. When you're a mod, you are catapulted into politically-charged situations. Those situations often put you at odds with other moderators, some of whom may have been your buddies at one time.

For example, to this day, I have strained dealings with one of the most highly respected mods on this site, because his perception of me has apparently changed based on some controversial statements I've made over the last year or so. :( And two of my very best friends here and I are not as tight as we were before. In my opinion, modding as a trio changed the dynamic of our relationship. I mean, we are still good friends, but it's just not the same as I wished it was. And that's the suck. :down

The same holds true for your relationships with other users. When you are a mod it's like you're walking a tightrope--with no net beneath you. See, you want to remain cool and "undamaged" in the eyes of your peers, but at the same time, you've got a job to do. Which means you often have to make unpopular decisions. Nothing hurts more than seeing friends who you think "know" you call you a hypocrite or power-abuser for making a judgment that didn't favor them.

I would glady give you my services, but I think we all know a certain poster over there would post one single word and I'd ban him/her. :o

LOL...I think I can make an educated guess on that one. :p

Meh...it's a sordid mess that I'd rather not discuss the more I think about it. The people who need to know, know.

I miss LS. Every time I go to the X-Boards I say "This place needs more Lightning." :(
