Doesn't the fact that he stole this from the library send a message to her that maybe her kid is completely and totally embarrassed that his mom is in some useless group called "Protect our Children". That maybe he LIKES the manga and it's something that he can immerse himself into instead of, I don't know, getting hooked on drugs? Or ending up hanging out with a group of guys that will have him stealing more than just library books?
