Monopoly

MONOPOLY

Don't land on Boardwalk...

Coming Soon

I just know that there's going to be an epic McDonald's tie in with this. :o

If ever there was a time to use "WTF" to effectively described a feeling, this is it.

WTF.

How the hell are they going to do this movie?

You know I have only played one Monopoly game in my life and it was boring as hell. And I didn't finish it. Let's hope that doesn't happen with the film.

I think the theme should be about greed in some way.

As concepts go - it is pretty damn awful.

Casn you imagine the initial pitch? :hehe:

Haha, so Ridley Scott, who has the admiration of every fanboy in existence, suddenly comes with this outta left field, now he's nuts? Damn, talk about loyalty. :oldrazz: I guess if Nolan came out next year and said he was going to direct a live action version of Felix the Cat, it would be on.

Ridley Scott eh...Where's Russell Crowe?

...Tagline: You've won a beauty contest, collect $10!

ahh its actually happening!!..
i thought this would go through development hell and never get made.

i cant wait... i hope its not too wierd... and just as good as Clue was

I know people have been joking about it, but I would watch the **** out of a movie based on

- Battleship

- Mouse Trap

- Heroscape(somebody get on this **** NOW)

- Risk

battleship would be awfully boring lol

even with primitive technology missing a submarine is pretty hard lol

The only movie that was ever made to my memory from a board game that was good and popular was Clue.

Is this gonna be live action or animated? Because animation I can see happening moreso than live-action.

i think its going to be live action since Ridley Scott is attached to the film. i don't think he's been involved with animated films before. but who knows.

Honestly you people have no creativity if you don't think Monopoly offers some story playing potential.

Picture a movie about four or five moguls competing with each other to control New Jersey by buying and developing property all while dealing with the ups and downs such a plan requires.

Perhaps this "game" becomes more real when it is evident that their actions are having a huge effect on the New Jersey economy: destroying houses to make way for more profitable hotels, over developing areas and crushing the initial beauty there before.

I can see that but not sure if it would be that entertaining. It kind of reminds me of the devious brothers Mortimer and Randolph Duke from Trading Places.

Entertainment requires the skill of a writer - but the idea could work.

Spider-Man 3, for example, had a great idea. It wasn't entertaining though because of the writing. It works both ways.

In my opinion, I think the Monopoly movie should be more of a comedy than something overly serious. Something tongue in cheek that is capable of not taking itself too seriously. I can't imagine what kind of plot it could possibly have... perhaps as someone said, moguls competing against one another?

What I can imagine, is its opening sequence. Imagine an animation of Rich Uncle Pennybags a.k.a. Mr. Monopoly running about the place, passing some of the more popular playing pieces, jumping onto a train all the while being chased by cops.

Everyone who's bashing this just shut up. This is a cool fresh idea in a sea of sequels and derivitave garbage...

Sorry but it has to be said.

I'm sure glad they're taking a CHANCE...

thank you... thank you... I try.

Oh you clever little bastard.
