Yes this is Urosawa Naoki's masterpiece is coming to theaters some time soon. It being adapted by Joss Olsen, who wrote A History of Violence.

So what does anyone think? Have you seen the anime, read the manga? Hear any news?

Do you have any ideas about a cast? Post it hear.

Any questions about it, post it hear or PM me for spoilers!

Yah I've watched the anime. Freakin' brilliant

As for my cast ...

Anime English Voice Actors ...

Tom Wyner (young Harry McDowel in Gungrave) for Dr. Tenma

Vic Mignogna (Dark in DN Angel) for Johan

Live action movie ...

Dr. Tenma ...

Russel Wong, might be too old.

Yosuke Eguchi

Takeshi Kaneshiro.

( Yah I want an asian playing Tenma. Otherwise just stop. )

Johan ...

Leonardo DiCaprio, might be too old for the part.

Lunge ...

Hugo Weaving.

Gean Reno.

I seriously hope they don't f*** the story.

Omg I was think about Daneil Dae Kim for Tenma. Yes I know he's not Japanese but he's a brillant versitle (sp) actor. I forgot all about Takeshi Kaneshiro. He's beyond brilliant. That is such a great idea. Wow, how come I didn't think of that.

Johan: Johnathan Ryes Myers, Ryan Gosling...(I have more, but I just had a brain fart)

Nina: She's a lot tougher to cast, mainly because she goes through every emotion humanly possible. Now I know alot of people are gonna bulk at this but I think Brittany Murphy could do it. She has that killer voice and if directed properly she can pull it off.

Lunge: Yeah, that screams Jean Reno.

As long as the actor is asian. It's all good. It's better than what I've been hearing/reading at some other boards. Kneau Reeves ? wtf ?

The first guy you mentioned for Johan isn't a bad choice. Then when I checked for info on this Gosling fellow. I immediately thought Remember the Titans. And thought of the guy who played Sunshine, Kip Pardue.

Yah not only does the actress have to go through every emotion, and do it well. She has to be a dead ringer to whoever plays Johan. You know ... so the whole twin thing works out, especially when
Johan dresses up as Nina and pretty much fools everyone
.

WTF Keanue! Ugg noo. He can barely act as it is. And the Tenma role would mean he would have to connect with every character he comes in contact with.

I haven't even begone to think of more actresses for Nina's part. It really tough. But I think that Murphy and Myers can pull of the **** thing. I can't post pictures but take a look. They have sort of a ya' know, oneness, about them.

As for Kip Pardue, he would make a great (Whats-his-name). You know the cop in the Cez Rep. The guy who fell for "Nina".

What about other characters?

I know which cop you're talking about. I forget his name though

as for other characters ...

Eva ... I've seen Sharone Stone's name come up. But she's too old.

I think I found a perfect pair for Johan/Nina.

Scarlett Johansson.

This might work because she has a twin brother.

BTW, I love your avvy X-Ray! Jin was the shiznit. I always felt so bad for him when people would mess with his glasses. That was just wrong. They never did explain how he got them. I don't think think they exsist during feudal Japan.

Speaking of plot holes...did you catch any in Monster. For the first time ever, I don't think I did. Mebbe I was distracted by the overall greatness of it all.

What did you think of the ending? I hated the fact that it was open-ened, but I loved it too!

Yah the whole glasses thing. I'm not sure either if they actually were availible in fuedal Japan

The story was clean cut with no room for any mistakes. No plot hole was discovered by me or anyone I've come across that's seen it. But then again I usually miss plot holes all together. :o

The ending left a huge opening. Not just with Johan being alive & on the loose again. But what he revealed, well in Tenma's dream at least, about which of the twin was actually the monster. What I got from it was that Anna was the actual Monster and Johan was acting on what she had experienced. Which is kinda scary.

Yeah that was the kicker. I guessed from the flashbacks that Anna had witnessned the massacer (wtf sp?). But it threw me for a loop finding out the truth.

Finding out who really got sent to Red Rose mansion was genius. Very well done. Another thing that blew my mind was finding out that Poppe and the twins Mother were still alive. That surpised the hell out of me.

There's a book that came out that basically tells what happened to everyone after the thing in Rueinhiem. I forget what its called. I'll see if I can find the link where its translated.

The book that you are referring to, GoddessReicho, is called "Another Monsters" and a partial chapter-by-chapter translation can be found at mangascreener.com (or was it .net?)
It's really interesting and adds quite a few dimentions to an already startlingly complex story.

Nice. My first post and it doubles itself--many apologies.
