I liked the first one so much better than Cars.....although probably because the first one did not have Larry the Cable Guy doing voiceover.

Pixar's Monsters University Pushed Back to 2013

Source: Disney•Pixar
April 4, 2011

Disney•Pixar announced today that the Monsters, Inc. prequel Monsters University has been pushed back from November 2, 2012 to June 21, 2013. There are no other movies scheduled around that date yet.

Directed by Dan Scanlon, the film shows how best friends Sulley (voiced by John Goodman) and Mike (voiced by Billy Crystal) first met while attending Monsters University. You can check out the newly-released logo here.

Disney also moved up animated film Reboot Ralph from March 22, 2013 to the vacant November 2, 2012 spot.

After DreamWorks Animation saw this change, the studio moved The Croods from March 1, 2013 to March 22, 2013

2013?! Noooooooooooooooooo!

We may never see two Pixar films in the same year. Oh well, maybe it's for the best.

Good that Disney move up Reboot Ralph because it sounds like an awesome project.

It looks funny, but also really stupid and pointless. Pixar is entering its "corporate age". No question about it. Disney buying Pixar is the worst thing that ever happened to them.

Even if it is a cash grab, it doesn't matter to me because I loved these characters and I'm happy to see them again. I hope they took extra care with the story but I don't think we have another "Cars 2" on our hands. There was more humor in that teaser than there was in all of "Cars 2".

I guess... Toy Story 2 and 3 was a cash grab then.

Every sequel ever made is a cash grab. It just depends on how good the film is to make it worth it in the end. Like everything to the internet, eventually great things sell out.

I'm just waiting for Pixar's dinosaur movie .

I like how Sully is one strapping it.

Toy Story 2 was a matter of if Pixar wasn't going to do it, Disney was going to make it with out them.

As if Wall-E, Ratatoullie, Up, and Toy Story 3 are somehow terrible movies.

Also, I saw Brave last night. It was awesome as well. My review is in the brave thread.

Monsters University looks like fun. At least more so than Cars 2... love Billy Crystal's ad-libbing in the four different teasers.

Well it was originally going to be a straight to video sequel. Now those are considered quick cash grabs. But Lasseter saw more potential in it.

Wall-E, Ratatouille, and Up were in development/production BEFORE Disney bought Pixar in late 2006. Don't forget it takes 3 or 4 years to make these animated films.

Well, Disney was going to make Toy Story 3 by themselves if they could not purchase Pixar, so the sale actually saved a fate worse than death for the third installment of the Toy Story franchise. I don't think Cars 2 was that good, but I won't say that it's the worst thing to happen to Pixar yet. If Brave and Monster University turned out to be terrible, though, then perhaps there is some weight to your argument. For now, I'm willing to give Disney/Pixar another chance or two to prove that they still have what it takes to release quality animation movies like they did in the past.

The reviews for Brave are not great: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/brave_2012/

They're good, but definitely not great.

The thing is, I think half the people here who criticize Cars 2 haven't even seen it.

This looks promising. And what's all this bashing Pixar talk? Come on! The only movie from them that wasn't "that good" was Cars 2, and I enjoyed it. It lacked a lot of heart, but it was like a straight action spy story, and very brutal (many Cars were actually killed).

I'm probably seeing Brave next week. And this Monster's University left a good taste, it was very funny, so I'm looking forward it.

My kid loves both Cars movies, and I think I've watched Cars 2 at least a hundred times. It's not the worst animated movies I've ever seen, but judging from Pixar's standard, it's pretty subpar and mediocre at best.
