House Pets

In the New World where the game is set, various creatures exist in the environment, and the creatures you capture can be released in your House. Depending on the type of House (grade), the amount and variety of environmental creatures you can place will change.

Special Equipment

“Special Equipment” possess outstanding effects, and can manifest those special effects when used as items. Since they can only be reused after a cooldown period, they must be used with caution.

The “Health Mantle” special equipment absorbs a fixed amount of damage. If the amount of damage it can absorb is exceeded, the effect ends. The amount of damage it can absorb is approximately equal to one bar of the player’s health gauge.

Palico Tool: “Cheer Instrument”
A Palico Tool that uses musical instruments to play various sounds. Depending on the sound, effects such as increased attack power and additional resistance manifest. The higher your proficiency, the more sounds you will be able to play.

Each Palico Tool has a proficiency, which gradually rises each time it is put to use. As proficiency rises, the effects that manifest when using the tool will also enhance.
Monster Hunter: World is due out worldwide for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 26, 2018. A PC version will be released at a later date. In Japan, Monster Hunter: World will only be available for PlayStation 4. A PlayStation 4-only beta will run from December 9 to 12.

Capcom has published 12 minutes of live gameplay footage of Monster Hunter: World‘s “Rotten Vale” area, which was first unveiled in the game’s Paris Games Week 2017 trailer.

Here’s an overview of the location, via Capcom:
Littered with the skeletons of deceased monsters, a land of unique and gigantic creatures awaits amongst this bed of bones. The deeper players journey into the inner layers of the Rotten Vale, the tougher the environment gets with a dangerous and toxic mist blanketing the land obscuring the perils that lurk nearby until the very last minute. The Radobaan, a hulking beast that wears the carcasses scattered around the Vale for armor will need hunters to be quick and fast as they take off chunks of its bone armor and avoid its rolling attacks. Hunters can brave the beast alone or with their team of four hunters. With drop in multiplayer, each hunter has their own story to tell – but will they live to tell it?
Capcom also announced that the Japanese version of the PlayStation 4-only beta test for Monster Hunter: World, which was previously set for December 9, has been moved to December 10. No such change has been announced for the western version of the beta test, which will run from December 9 to 12.

Monster Hunter: World is due out worldwide for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 26, 2018. A PC version will be released at a later date. In Japan, Monster Hunter: World will only be available for PlayStation 4.

Monster Hunter: World
With the success of Nintendo’s new portable/console hybrid, the Nintendo Switch, many are wondering if their favorite AAA games will make their way over to the platform. One of the games on that wishlist is the upcoming Monster Hunter: World.

The highly anticipated entry in the acclaimed Japanese franchise is releasing later this week on PS4 and Xbox One with a PC release later down the line but fans wonder if a Switch version is in the cards at some point.

Speaking with IGN, the game’s directors Kaname Fujioka and Yuya Tokuda shut down any plans for a Switch port in the foreseeable future due to the fact the console didn’t exist when they began development.

“We don’t have any plans for the Switch at the moment. Part of the reason is that the title has been in development for almost 4 years. At the time we had to commit to our hardware choices, we decided on using the most powerful current generation consoles available at the time, which was PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. So [the decision was made] before the Switch was even announced or on sale.”

It’s also because for every title we decide what the best fit for hardware is for the concept. We don’t just look at everything. It’s more like “if we want to achieve this kind of game concept, where’s the best place to achieve that?” and for this title the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One were the best fit for us.”

It sounds like the game may potentially be too big in scope for the Switch as well but who knows, developers are still unlocking all of the potential for the game so maybe we could see the JRPG come to console at a later date.

Monster Hunter: World comes to Xbox One and PS4 on January 26th, 2018.

"We don’t have any plans for the Switch at the moment"

Monster Hunter World is shaping up to be pretty special indeed, but for Nintendo fans missing out on this blockbuster title it's something of a sore point - especially when you consider how the 3DS iterations of the series did so much to expand its core audience.
Well all know that the game isn't coming to Switch - Nintendo fans have been graced with Monster Hunter XX instead - but at least Capcom has an excuse. A while back, co-director Kaname Fujioka stated that his team's aim was to make the best Monster Hunter for PS4 and Xbox One, and now Fujioka - alongside fellow director Yuya Tokuda - has offered another (similar) reason:
We don’t have any plans for the Switch at the moment. Part of the reason is that the title has been in development for almost 4 years. At the time we had to commit to our hardware choices, we decided on using the most powerful current generation consoles available at the time, which was Playstation 4 and Xbox One. So [the decision was made] before the Switch was even announced or on sale.
It’s also because for every title we decide what the best fit for hardware is for the concept. We don’t just look at everything. It’s more like ‘if we want to achieve this kind of game concept, where’s the best place to achieve that?’ and for this title the Playstation 4 and Xbox One were the best fit for us.
That's a fair comment - if a game enters development for a target platform many years before another (technically weaker) system is announced and revealed, it's hardly fair to expect it to be ported over right away - especially when you consider that Monster Hunter world is an ambitious outing which pushes Sony and Microsoft's consoles to their respective limits.

However, when you see the way other companies have scaled their software for Switch - such as Rocket League and DOOM - one does wonder if Capcom's decision to bypass what could potentially be the biggest platform for Monster Hunter World is a wise one.

We assume that Capcom will eventually give Switch owners a "proper" Monster Hunter game in the fullness of time, but will it be World or an entirely fresh outing? Let us know your thoughts with a comment.

Monster Hunter series sales top 45 million units.

Monster-Hunter-Worls-Ships_01-29-18.jpg

Total worldwide shipments and digital download sales for Monster Hunter: World have exceeded five million, Capcom announced. The game launched for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 26 (the Xbox One version is only available in North America and Europe). A PC version is due out this fall.

Since the first Monster Hunter title debuted 14 years ago in 2004, the series has cumulatively sold more than 45 million units worldwide.
Here is an overview of Monster Hunter: World and its upcoming plans, via Capcom:
Monster Hunter: World is the latest entry in the series and is the first new Monster Hunter title for home consoles in nine years. Players step into the role of a researcher, whose team travels to an unexplored, new continent and become hunters. This game offers significant innovations to the series, including seamless transitions between map areas as well as smooth, on-the-fly actions, displayed damage points dealt to monsters, and the ability to join mid-quest when playing online.

What’s more, in order to further build upon its fan base both in Japan and in markets overseas, this is the first title in the series to be given a global simultaneous launch. As a result, Monster Hunter: World has shipped five million units, the largest shipment a title in this series has achieved in the first three days following release. Capcom plans to support the sales growth of the title over the long term through a number of free downloadable updates, which will include additional monsters among other content.

Beginning in the spring of 2018 Capcom plans to hold qualifying events in seven areas across Japan leading up to the Monster Hunter: World Kariou Playoffs, which will determine the top hunter in the country. What’s more, Capcom will roll out further cross-industry initiatives to increase long-term brand value and capture an even wider fan base, such as with a Hollywood film adaptation of the series and the Monster Hunter: The Real attraction currently running at Universal Studios Japan.

Capcom remains firmly committed to satisfying the expectations of all users by leveraging its industry-leading game development capabilities in order to create highly entertaining gameplay experiences.

MH-World-Update_02-08-18.jpg

Capcom has released the version 1.05 update for the PlayStation 4 version of Monster Hunter: World and the 1.0.0.10 update for the Xbox One version.

Get the details below.
Squads (PlayStation 4)

  • Fixed an issue where the error message “Failed to retrieve squad information. Please wait and try again.” would appear and squad features would not be usable. However, as a result of this fix, players who were affected by this bug will have all of their squad data reset. Additionally, players in squads whose squad leaders have their data reset will also see any affiliated data disappear the next time they log in. We apologize sincerely for the inconvenience, and ask that you reform squads or reinvite players whose data are lost.
  • Fixed an issue where, rarely, uninvited non-squad members could join a Squad Online Session, or squad members could not join one of their own. Squad Online Sessions can still be joined by players outside of the squad via friend invite or Online Session ID search.
5 Million Celebration Item Pack

  • Fixed an issue where some players could not claim the item pack “5 Million Celebration Item Pack”. The availability for this item pack has been extended to February 22, 23:59 (UTC).
Decorations

  • Fixed an issue where, under certain conditions, decorations would be lost.
  • Fixed an issue that occurred when selecting items with the “Sell Items” option (from the item box inside base camp tents) by hiding the decorations tab.
General Light Bowgun and Heavy Bowgun ammo changes

  • Increased the power of Normal Ammo (1, 2, 3), Pierce Ammo (1, 2, 3), and all elemental ammo (except Dragon Ammo).
  • Decreased the power of Slicing Ammo, and reduced the effect it has when hitting other players.
  • Reduced the maximum number of Slashberries you can hold in your item pouch from 60 to 30. Players can still use any remaining extra Slashberries if they currently have more than 30 in their item pouch.
Elderseal

  • Readjusted the Elderseal calculation for dragon pods.
Endemic Life

  • Fixed an issue where information on endemic life would disappear from the Wildlife Map when moving about the field.
Quests

  • Fixed an issue where the assignment “Flying Sparks: Tobi-Kadachi” would not appear on the quest board after departing on a different quest in the middle of speaking with the Chief Botanist just before the quest is first assigned.
  • Fixed a rare bug that would cause players to lose control of their characters when completing a quest with certain start menu sub-menus open.
Xbox One matchmaking

  • Our development team is also working tirelessly on pinpointing the issues with matchmaking on Xbox One. We apologize for the delay and appreciate your continued patience and support as we track down and solve these issues.

Really like this game, crafting can be a little daunting. Especially if there is a part that is needed and I have no idea what it is. Hate having to resorting to google in order to craft.

Playing on the Xbox X. It looks great but I wish it did not look as washed out as it does., but other than that I am have great fun.

Yeah, my one beef with the crafting is that it doesn't show ingredients that you haven't discovered yet. I get that they want to keep the mystery of future monsters there, but revealing the names is not going to hurt the reveal of the monsters very much.

Especially since many of them look pretty similar anyway...
