im so very excited for this! im assuming the mk fake trailer from a while ago with michael jai white as jax wont be connected to this but will follow similar lines leading up to the film. i'd prefer the characters to look a little better (more extreme reptile and better makeup for baraka- if thats still the take) and for johnny cage or any major character being executed. and if this movie isnt an exact replica of the games..thats ok. the new game looks wonderful and a movie cant be the same exact thing so im stoked!

then again, if this doesnt lead up to a film, if its going to be its own story in the 10 webisodes and the trailer is actually leading into these (continuing on with that story set) thatd be exciting too. especially if these were made in a way that if they were put back to back they would add up to a feasible continuing story on its own. i would hope these would be 10 minutes each, at least. that way it would clock in at at least an hour and a half

i remember a while back that this director actually had an entire story planned out with liu kang using fireballs and sub-zeros fatality making the cut and that there would be abilities and things carried over from the games, they couldnt do that with the set budget he came up with for the trailer. so that trailer might not matter with these webisodes and it might be a revamped story.

Yea he said that the fantasy elements weren't in the Short because of Budget constraints I'm sure WB will be providing a larger budget then he had before so no need to worry about This being "Nolanized" not that it won't be realistic because I hope it is for some stuff I loved the Tone of the short all it needed was the Mysticism(sp.") that MK is.

Looking at Kano during the early MK days, he did have a little bit of an ethnic look going on; then after the first movie they decided to make him Australian.

Im looking forward to it. I think the purists might be indifferent, but I think it's a cool new interpretation of Mortal Kombat. Hey, it just means it's still relevant in pop culture if an online mini-series gets the green light..

I think it's a good idea. I can't see this being a movie or a TV show. If an online show like 'The Guild' can provide quality writing and acting, I think Mortal Kombat is safe if it's done well.

Yeah but The Guild is a bit of a different story. I will give WB kudos for trying something that's exclusive for online though, it probably won't cost a great deal to produce I imagine, hopefully it's free to view and available internationally.

Hopefully they got a little bit more of a budget. I don't expect a special effects spectacle, but I'm hoping for the characters to be more colorful then they were in the Rebirth short.

Hopefully there will be no Dr. Baraka.

and as for the casting of Kano, I dont really mind it. Mortal Kombat is a franchise and will always reinvent from time to time.

im very excited about this...I think Warner is still gauging the interest level and these 10 digital eps are going to be a preclude to a feature film hopefully.

Warner cannot make a film based off 1 short...10 shorts with more interest = $$$ for Warner.

They may retcon that or he may have more fights leading up to his death, but we'll see, it's not like Johnny Cage hasn't gotten the short end of the stick before
