I don't think it was actually stated that there would be 24 characters. However that's what the character select screen being shown has. I believe NRS said that that screen wasn't final. However companies do tend to fib a bit about stuff like that.

Less characters means less chance that someone's favorite is in and more for them to sell later as DLC. Im almost good. Sonya is the only last one I need confirmed

Well considering how the last MK game had 27 characters at the start(28 in the PS3 version), if there is indeed 24 characters in this one, some people will be disappointed. Hell Injustice had 26 characters in the initial roster.

EDIT: Disregard that Injustice part. There was 24. Not 26. My bad.

It may have been overridden subsequently, but it was reported that the initial roster would only have 24 characters.

In a perfect MK game,in terms of roster it'd have an Armageddon type size that would include pretty much everyone from MK1-4,Master Boracho and Onaga with some new characters from this games and a few other brand new ones.

But then again,I guess 24 ain't so bad considering I don't master anyone and just have a couple of favorites while playing as others sometimes for variety but I mainly use my top favorites anyway

I typically learn 6-8 characters depending on the game, just so I don't get bored when playing with friends.

I always use my favorites as well, but the more characters, more the asses I'll have to kick. More variety.
24 characters is fine, though.

I tend to try out all the characters in fighting games. I do tend to play some more than others depending on how good I am with them. I mean last fall I was playing USF4 online and kicking ass with Vega.

I doubt we'll ever get a roster the size of Armageddon again. That game pretty showed that there's a difference between having a good roster and shoving near every character you've ever made into a game.

I was generally okay with "Armageddon", if I was a tad perplexed by some of the choices made (forcing the Noob/Smoke team, only letting you use Zombie Liu Kang, Jax's beret). Still, it was a big, loud, convoluted bloodbath, like any good "MK" game should be.

Yea I tend to have 2 maybe 3 characters I'm really good with, then another 3 or 4 that I'm basic with. In MK my stand outs were Cyrax, Smoke and Sub Zero, whereas I was solid with Sektor, Scorpion, Freddy, Reptile and Rain. It was pretty much the same with Injustice. My main 3 being Bane, Superman and Lantern but I was competent with Nightwing, Batman, Aquaman, Arrow and Grundy.

i've always liked Mileena a bit more then Kitana, glad to see shes back, she was actually one of my "backup" mains in MK9 lol

The Shao Khan buckle is a nice touch. I can imagine a possible "Man-Eater" style would be both brutal and hilarious.
