Mine are Assassin's Creed Red and Marvel's Wolverine, if they are released neXt year.

Call me crazy but that princess peach: showtime game looks like such good fun

I got nothing right now. Maybe Star Wars: Outlaws if that comes out but at this point who knows what will and won't be delayed.

I don’t have a good handle on what is actually due to come out in 2024. I’d be very hyped for Hellblade II, Wolverine, Fable and Avowed but not sure when exactly they will release.

I have Suicide Squad, Death Stranding 2 and Star Wars: Outlaws in my wishlist but I'm not terribly eXcited for those. Not an eXciting neXt year for games.

However I plan to get a PS5 in the summer, and catch up to 2022 and 2023 PS5 games (only ten games are in my waitlist for 2022/23 games combined). I'd start with the game that has the cheapest price and buy 1 game per month.

Great to catch up on backlogs.

Those games should be cheap by then.

I hope Outlaws is really good.

I think there's a big chance that Marvel's Wolverine and Star Wars Outlaws would be released in 2025 more so than 2024. I'm not confident Insomniac would have it ready one year after Spider-Man 2 (which doesn't even have its new game + released yet). The new Avatar game from Ubisoft was delayed at least once iirc, and Outlaws doesn't even have a date, so if it gets a date neXt year, I eXpect it not to keep it. Also DS2 is in my waitlist. Its been a year since it was revealed in Game Awards 2022, and I don't think we have seen something new since then, and it feels more than a year away.

I've also checked list of upcoming games for neXt year and its looking pretty dry so far. 2023 has Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Starfield, Mortal Kombat, Final Fantasy, Zelda, Alan Wake and Spider-Man. 2024 will have a Suicide Squad game in early 2024 which is like a walking red flag right now. Sony doesn't have a big eXclusive confirmed for a 2024 release yet. I don't know if Nintendo and Microsoft have a big game for 2024 as big as their biggest 2023 game.

It doesn’t look like 2024 will be able to match 2023, which has been a good year for gaming (for me at least).

Its going to be a less eventful year. But PS5 Pro should be out neXt year, and I eXpect Switch 2 and big game announcements to occur neXt year.

2024 sounds like the perfect time to catch up on 2022/2023 games I haven't played.

Right now, as a Nintendo main, everything is in a holding pattern waiting for Switch 2 announcement. Sadly, MH isn't till 2025.

OG Tomb Raider Remake in Feburary is about all that comes to mind. I loved playing those on the first Playstation back in the day.

On top of my head:
  • Hades II (Early Access)
  • STALKER 2
  • Hellblade II
Any boomer shooters and any indie darlings that will be 2024's Cocoon, Dredge, Dave the Diver, Lethal Company...

according to VGC, Hellblade II could be one of Xbox Series' most important exclusives

FFVII Rebirth is the only one I got coming in the near term

Getting a ps5 soon, so I plan to try out some already released games, like Cyberpunk and definitely Spiderman 2

Forgot Hades 2 was coming out in 2024. That's one new game.

For me, more often than not its the games that arent yet revealed that get me most hyped.
The stuff that is announced 2024 and releases there too.

That to me is often one of the best things, when its not games we know come 2-3 years in advance.
Its the games that get revealed and then 3-4 months later come out.

Looking over a list of 2024 releases, let’s see.

Dragons Dogma 2, probably the one I’m expecting the most
Star Wars: Outlaws, if it doesn’t get delayed
Silent Hill 2, should it actually release next year
Shadow of the Erdtree, if DLC counts and see above
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, though my hype for that has been severely dampened
Alone in the Dark, maybe.

I’m sure there’ll be a few surprises.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2
Maaaan, I like the Chinese Room as developers, but Paradox still have yet to give a reason as to why Brian Mitsoda was fired and the whole thing just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The original game is one of the most unique ImSims ever made so the sequel has big shoes to fill.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree DLC
Dragon Age: Dreadwolf
Dragon’s Dogma 2
Avowed
Gothic (remake)
Starfield: Shattered Space DLC
Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon

From my waitlist:
Suicide Squad (Feb)
Assassin's Creed Red (Q4)
Star Wars: Outlaws (Q4)

I'll only buy Red on launch, the other two when its cheaper. Boring year for games compare to 2023 imo.

I do hope Civ 7 gets announced this year.

Crimson Desert looks really rad. I’d never even heard of it until a week or two ago but I need that game in my life now.

Indiana Jones also looks like a blast.
