Yeah, Will Smith and Tom Cruise have been dominant for a while now. On screen, I'd say Robert Downey Jr, he managed to elevate Iron Man from a strong blockbuster to a near classic, he beat jack black and Ben Stiller in their own game. He's got a bigger presence than Will Smith and he's got more variety than Tom Cruise is allowed to have.
In the business sense, Will Smith. Robert Downey Jr. certainly dominates any film he's in despite his role, outclassing anyone else. As far as dominating in terms of screen presence, Daniel-Day Lewis is impossible to touch. He commands the screen and chews the scenery without so much as blinking.
Jack Nicholson is certainly the most dominating actor. On set he is incredibly intimidating despite having the greatest sense of humor in the business (theres nothing you could say or do to him that could make him blush, he loves jokes made at his expense). You never know what he'll do because he likes to ad-lib. It helps him in his villain roles because the actors truly dont know what he'll do next. Plus on screen it is almost impossible to not have him in the foreground since he naturally gravitates to the front of the pack. He could also create 5 bombs and one brilliant performance and no one would even notice that he was in a slouch or making a comeback or any of that.
