Movie Popcorn... what they don't tell you...

Theater concessions are crap and 10x more expensive than they should be, we've known this for a while. If I'm going to go to the movies on an empty stomach, I'll either bring my own goodies or just go to the Cinema Cafe where they actually serve real food.

I rarely eat food when I go to the movies. If I recently got paid or whatever I may get a box of candy or something just to splurge, but I don't eat any open food items, like the popcorn, nachos, etc.

I don't remember the last time I got popcorn at the movies. I usually eat beforehand.

Does anyone even buy food at the movies anymore? I ALWAYS bring my own food

i thought it was gonna be about them over-pricing us... which we already know.

lmao who wasted their money on this study?

Also take into account how most never even finish their bag of popcorn so the actualy calorie count is prob half that to the average moviegoer.

I used to work at a Regal theater. I would feel so guilty pouring the butter on the tubs of popcorn. It felt like I was handing a heart attack to the customers. But what could I do? The people demanded it! And if they didn't get their tub of popcorn layered with butter (butter in the middle of the tub and on top of the popcorn) then there would be hell to pay!

:cmad: give me extra butter, you damn college punk! J/K.

I hardly go to the movies anymore :csad:. But I only really get popcorn on the base theater cause it's so cheap. Sometimes I get butter.

:o I can eat a medium bag or a large bag of popcorn all by myself.

I used to have a giant (I repeat, GIANT) bucket of popcorn ALL to myself.

Then I realised that that wasn't helping me get tail. So now I'm my way to losing weight.

Lost 20kg so far, just over 50kg to go.

Hopefully.

But I LOOOVE popcorn. It's my crack.

I only get popccorn for films that I've been anticipating for a long time. Same goes for drinks, too.

It's part of the experience isn't it? You can't have a summer blockbuster without a bucket of popcorn because they go hand in hand like Cheech and Chong, Mork and Mindy, Ross and Rachel...

With big summer movies isn't not just a bucket of popcorn, it's apart of the experience.

So there's a lot of butter on popcorn, BFD. People don't buy popcorn expecting it to be good for them.

at my local theater we had a choice of "flavors" to go with the popcorn along with the butter

garlic, cheese, and cajun flavors
Am I the only person who thinks that sounds tasty.

I never get food when I go to the movies. Even if it wasn't bad for you, it's just a waste of money.

I usually bring a camping gas hob into the cinema and fry up some steaks whilst I'm watching the film.

At a local theater here they put butter on it and then your choice of cheese. :D

You know what they call a Quarter Pounder with cheese in France? A Royale with cheese! Something to do with the metric system.

I hate theater popcorn anyway. Having worked cleaning one in my younger days really put me off it. Not to mention how much the bloody stuff costs, ridiculous.

My Wife likes it but she'll only eat like a sixth of it then take the rest home and munch on it throughout the week. She just likes it that way. Even when I was eating it I would never finish the bag and it would just be money wasted.

I used to love popcorn with butter all over it, but I haven't had that for a long time. When my wife & I went to the movie theatre, we usually ended up getting nachos with jalapeno and melted cheese; it tastes better anyway.

I don't even remember the last time I had food in a movie theater.

I worked at a theater for 5 years, we couldn't call the butter "butter", we had to call it "buttery flavored topping", which was kinda funny saying it to the customers cause they'd always give us a weird look. It was made from soybean oil or something. I used to love eating the popcorn, but it gave me mad nausea.

So, movie theater popcorn is unhealthy for you. What's the big news here?

I stopped buying popcorn, not because it was unhealthy, but because it was expensive as hell.

Popcorn is the only thing I'll buy at a theater, everything else is smuggled in.

I'll buy soda from time to time just cause I got tired of sticking those litter bottles in my pants.

I'm one of those annoying jerks that likes to chew the ice. :o
