Sequels Moviehole.net - SR2 with Zod

So is this going to be a vague sequel to Lester's Superman 2? Or Donner's Superman 2? Or is it going to be a mix of Superman 2/Star Trek 2 the Wrath of kahn?

I think it will be a Snickers bar. . . . Chewy Caramel: Lester's Superman II + Peanuts: Star Trek 2 + Chocolate: Donner's Superman II = Superman Returns Again.

Geez. . . Zod again? I hope that's a joke. . . . And if it is, it's a bad one if I might add.

Yeah... using Zod would suck. At least using him this soon. I wasn't opposed to the idea before I saw SR, but now that I have, I can tell that if Singer used Zod again, it would just be a rehash of either Donner's Superman 2 or Lester's Superman 2, because SR was really just a rehash of Superman TM.

I seriously think they should hire another director. Singer is incredibly talented, but he's simply not the right guy for Superman.

This sucks if true. No more defending Singer from me...seriously, it's time for something new. Yes, SR was a decent attempt at re-establishing Superman, but it was also a rehash of the Donnor movie.

Basically, if this actually happens, we'll have waited 20 years to get nothing more than updated versions of S: TM and S II. I want a new movie, a new plot, and a new villian.

Is that so much to ask for?

Aparently it is with Singer. He said in an interview that I quoted in teh "complaints about the movie" thread that he was purposely redoing STM in SR. So it looks like he is going to be redoing SII now. Stupid. Real stupid Singer. STM is my favorite movie of all time and it did not need to be redone. Jaws doesn't need to be redone. Close Encounters doesn't need to be redone.

God help us all, remove Singer from creative control of anything Superman.

A sequel with Zod would only solidify that much more as to how horrible Singer's approach to Superman is on-screen. The man has absolutely no clue, IMO of how to present Superman, and has little knowledge (if any) of anything Superman-related outside of the original film and Superman 2.

If WB go with this Zod thing, they're morons. Superman represents the perfect vehicle to launch entire franchises and introduce characters most general movie-goers have not heard of before but are very cool, namely villains like Braniac, Darkseid, even Doomsday...

I'm just getting tired of saying these things being said over and over and over again, while hoping for some breakthrough news on the sequel that can genuinely excite.

I'm going to disagree with nearly every one of you on using Zod. Because I love the character. That's just me. However, I remembered reading an interview where Harris or Dougherty stated that Superman brings something back to Earth with him during his sojourn to Krypton. Now, call me a silly goose, but Zod isn't likely to be floating around near the remains of Krypton. So it'll be Brainiac. Chill out.

Zod is a great character, but using him in a sequel to SR (which is already pretty close S:TM) makes me feel Singer only knows Donners Superman. Now if Zod is being manipulated by Brainiac and kills Jason...well that could be cool.

Zod has been done before, not only does this show Singer's complete lack of originality, but now all we're getting is remakes of fantastic movies, Superman 1 and 2! This is a dumb move by Singer. This shows he has no creativity, and all he wants to do is suck up to Donner, good job Singer! :down

I'd only be OKAY with Zod if Brainiac is involved and the cliffhangar leads to a bigger obstacle, which to me can only mean Darkseid. Whichever director who dares to tackle this impossible arc will get my utmost respect.

If SR had been the blockbuster people expected it to be I'd actually hope for a back-to-back part 2 and 3 that tells the entire Luthor, Brainiac, Darkseid story. After THAT trilogy, people will give Superman some respect.

I wish that singer wold stop following Donners movies.....

make something new!!

It wouldnt make sesne for him to be in in unless he was on a prison on Earth, or that he died or it would knock the other films out of conituity. (Stm 1,2

Well I guess theres only one question to ask now...

...which country will Lex ask Zod for?

i think some of us need to read a little more...

didnt it say that luther would not be a main villain? Zod will probably return but i see 3 person in the mix..... uncivility deleted--Dew ok so SR wasnt a super success but i have faith in the next one and hopefully we get to actually see the scenes that cost 10 million instead of getting deleted out of the flick and also have less plot holes

Zod isnt a bad idea.....

but Superman fans after 20 years want to have something new happening to their beloved character in film.....we dont want to jump back 30 years......

i really hope this is nothing more than a bad rumour. :(

besides how the heck can Zod be introduced in the SR storyline? grow him out of the NK soil?

yeah. Like I didn't see this post comming. If Singer was going to use an evil rubber dog doo on a string it would be your favorit character because Singer is doing it. And i'll call you more than a silly goose.

So isn't Zod just laying powerless in a pit at the bottom of the Fortress of Solitude? Singer can't just pick and choose parts from S:II that he likes and totally forget about other key aspects. ...Wait... Actually, I guess he can :(

Oh and as kickass as it would be, we'll never see Darkseid in a Superman movie.

ummmmm it was a joke, and no one took offense to it
Then why did we recieve reports on it? Where I live....people do not approve of others calling them "*****es".....do not continue to do this.

I think that if the author of that article is right in his speculation of there being a 3rd villain, then I would be fine if they brought back General Zod in the context of being manipulated by Brainiac. Though if they are using the "evil Superman" archtype, then I would have preferred Bizzaro.
