yeah. Like I didn't see this post comming. If Singer was going to use an evil rubber dog doo on a string it would be your favorit character because Singer is doing it. And i'll call you more than a silly goose.
I'm just stating something that I'd read previously by one of the writers on the movie and letting all those people flipping out know that there is a good chance Zod may not be anywhere near the sequel. Moviehole sure as hell isn't Variety, now is it? Like I said earlier: CHILL OUT. What else might you wanna call me? Let's hear it, slick. Why don't you astound me with your boundless intelect?

Good Lord, I hope this rumor fizzles out and becomes much ado about nothing. The franchise needs a kick in the butt with some villains from Supe's Rogues Gallery that haven't been seen onscreen before. Zod's already been done (and done well, I might add). If Singer really is intent on merely reimaging Donner's work then he needs to be removed from the project, because it's nothing more than *********ory on his part. I like Metallo a lot, but I think he'll be viewed as an Iron Man rip-off by the general movie-going public. I've seen some really great ideas around Braniac coming into the mix, getting involved with Luthor and giving him some advanced technology who then uses it to create Parasite. Mayhem ensues, all the while Braniac is getting stronger and more powerful, leading to a big finale between he and Supes. This gives Supes some more physical opponents as WELL as some that use their brains against him. And it's not just Refried Superman II.

Mettalo would be the best villain for the next film cause he is so cool, new and interesting.....

I think Singer will continue to do a donnerrecycle, they need to get someone new to take on the franchise if they want it to be ssomething new and exciting....

Hmmm no sequel offically confirmed yet..so I am guessing they don't know what Villain is being used yet..why are people buying this rumor? Ohh yeah..so they can bash Singer more.

Wasn't it already confirmed there WOULDN'T be a Zod?

And....even if there is a Zod. Why would it be bad? I mean, atleast we know we'd get some ****ing incredible fights.

"Superman II
A tasty bit of news from the Warner compound on the just-announced “Superman” sequel. Apparently the character of General Zod will be a major focus of the new film, and like he did with the main role, Singer isn’t ruling out casting an unknown in the role. The studio apparently likes Jude Law for the role – previously played by Terence Stamp in the earlier films – but some are suggesting finding a fresh face to play the villainous part. Told that Kevin Spacey’s Lex Luthor is supposed to return for the film, but they haven’t worked out for “how much” of the film he’ll be around for, which makes me think they might be bringing in a new big bad to proceedings. Any guesses?"

As much as I like Singer and think he can make a better sequel now that he's laid out the new cinematic Superman world, where he has a kid and whatnot ... I would fire his ass in a second if it meant I wouldn't have to see General Zod ... again.

I hope this is NOT true! Maybe have Zod as ONE of the villians but the main baddy! They need to bring in Metallo or Braniac without a doubt!

Or perhaps Braniac gives tech info to Luthor to conceive Metallo?

Well, like everyone' saying, the Zod thing is most likely nothing more than a rumor. I really love the Metallo character, but I think it might be good to save him for another film. Reasoning? Iron Man will be out in 2008 and I think that if the next Supes flick has Metallo in it, most of the general movie-going public will just think of him as an Iron Man rip-off, which is why I suggested Parasite rather than Metallo.

Zod has been rumored since the early days of Superman Returns and was suppoosedly in an early draft of the script...

so it seems likely singer has Zod in mind especailly since he has said the villain would be an alien.....

If this turns out to be true...then Singer isn't using any imagination...he's just recycling someone elses movie.

Brainiac makes WAY more sense.

Some of Superman's villains like Darkseid and Metallo might work really well in the comics, but cinematically, they'd be very difficult unless you want the film to end up like Fantastic Four.

Singer is going for a real-world epic feel, and he can't have that if Superman is taking on Terminator rejects or an alien dictator that looks like a cross between Hulk and Thing. And villains like Parasite you can forget about.

Singer's obviously interested in drama, story and dialogue, and therefore wants strong actors in main roles, not just two hours of super-powered brawling between Superman and some monster.

Aside from Luthor, Superman's villains are very two-dimensional, and although you can get away with it in a comic, on screen they would appear pretty silly unles completely revamped.

A movie based on Darkseid and Apokolypse -- while a comic fan's wildest dream -- would probably be too alienating for the general public used to the Singer/Donner universe.

If done imaginitively, though, it could be an awsome new direction and a nod to the old Flash Gordon movies -- Superman captured and made to fight in the arena while Darkseid prepares the conquest of Earth . . .Hmmm.

They'd still need to change Darkseid's appearance, though.

As for Doomsday, I've always hated him because he's just a brainless monster with no personality, no motivation other than Doomsday Smash!

I thnk we need to move away from the Donner movie verse its time for a new movie Superman saga......

Harris & Dougherty themselves said they will not be using Zod. I think they have more credibility than a couple of rumours.

Do you have a link to an interview with them where they discuss that? I'd love to read it.

Thanks,

God. Singer is ****ing clueless. I mean you would think that after his Superman movie tanked he would realize...WE DON'T WANT ANY MORE 1970's SUPERMAN. Jesus. I have said this many a time, and I will say it again. Singer is out of touch with general moviegoing audiences...he is clueless.

Another site reports it www.news.com.au

"JUDE Law is set to play Superman's arch enemy. The Closer actor is in talks to appear as the Man of Steel's most hated foe General Zod in the Superman Returns sequel. The role of General Zod was made famous by Terence Stamp, who played the character in 1980 movie Superman 2. A source told the Daily Express: "Zod is going to be the main bad guy in the second film. Some say they should use an unknown but the director Bryan Singer is looking at Jude. The similarities between him and Stamp are clear."

Those two are just a couple of whack pack fool writers that are the tools of Singer. I have absolutely no faith in their ability to deliver a great story. Whatever talent they may have is severely limited and doing a Superman story is a bit overwhelming as evidenced by the poor film of Superman Returns.

They were likely hired due to their close association to Singer. I'm really disappointed in their efforts with SR, and I feel that the popular culture icon deserves more than what that whack pack is capable of delivering in terms of quality.

In the final analysis, if Singer and his overinflated ego wants to use Zod, then Harris and Daugherty will massage that ego by writing a story with Zod as the antagonist.

They also said the kid wasn't Superman's.

Seriously, WB should fire Singer now.

This is just going to be a remake of Superman 2. We don't need remakes, we need new ideas, with new villains.

OooooOooo, this is so exciting. Zod, the greatest villain of them all.

More than likely he'll get a budget of 200 million dollars, which he will most probably waste on stupid flaws and long love story parts. How exciting.

Oh well. Singer had a chance to bring back Superman in style, but all he's doing is wrecking the franchise. He's an idiot, who knows nothing about Superman, apart from the 70 and 80's movies. Get a director who knows a lot about Superman, WB.

I guarantee you, if Zod's the only villain used in SR2, it will do a lot worse than SR. A lot worse!

Singer to a norwegian newspaper regarding the sequel;

- He says he has no concrete plans for the sequel. "I have nothing, only some loose ideas".
[...]
"With the movie thats out now I have made the foundation for the sequel. And the studio lets med do what I want, I have that position now".
