You know how it goes, often a movie with worldwide release is often titled something other than its original name. I don't get it. Even some movies with one title magically has others. For example, what do you yourself call the second X-Men movie? Some call it X-Men 2 or X-Men United.

I call it X2 because that's what it is, and that is what rolls on the freakin title screen. :o

Anyhow, what name do you call these films by? Their proper title, or one of the secret names?

Biggest recent example I can think of is when Edge of Tomorrow essentially became LIVE DIE REPEAT on all the home media.

I only call it X2. Not subtitle or anything.

One example is Mad Max 2. In the US, it was released as The Road Warrior because Mad Max underperformed. It's a bit hypocritical to the first part of my post but I refer to the film as The Road Warrior because I think it's cool when sequels aren't numbered or subtitled. It's like how the sequel to The Pink Panther is A Shot in the Dark.

I dont think ti was because Mad Maz underperformed. I heard it was because Mad Max never made it to the States in the first place

It did. The movie even had the Austrailian actor's voices dubbed over with American accents.

I'm a little disappointed, Immortalfire, I thought you'd have more fun with the thread title, considering the subject matter.

The movies with multiple titles thread, a.k.a. The Revenge of Beastmaster

Edge of Tommorow. Later they change it to Live. Die. Repeat. and marketed as such on home releases. Even more weirder is script was based on Japanese light novel All You Need Is Kill.

It will be certainly fun when they release a sequel.

When Black Christmas was released in the US in the 1970's, it was renamed Silent Night, Evil Night in some cities, and A Stranger In The House in others.

Sometimes movies titles don't translate well in other countries. I once worked with a Chinese gentleman at a boot store and he asked me if I had ever seen a movie called The Man With The Really Fast Gun. I asked him what it was about and he ended up describing The Quick And The Dead with Sharon Stone and Gene Hackman. I also have seen some badly translated English subtitles of either Chinese or Thai bootlegs of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith which reads Star Wars Episode III: Backstroke Of The West. (You should see how badly some of the dialogue was translated :hehe:)

I was arguing with a friend sometime ago about what a movie was called, both of us totally adamant in our titles. She argued it was called The Rundown, while I argued it was called Welcome to The Jungle. We were both completely convinced the other was wrong, one IMDB search later and it turned out we were both right.

Well....I saw it at the Crossroads theater in Lexington Kentucky US of A......maybe they only sent one print over and my city was the lucky one that got it.

There were no TV ads for it and the Crossroads theater was a hole in the wall of a theater. Lexington is the second largest city in Kentucky, even back then they had a lot of screens but Mad Max only was at that one theater. I had read about it in STARLOG magazine, so when I saw the print ad in the paper I went to see it.

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Rambo: First Blood Part II/Rambo II/First Blood II yet.

I went to the theater and saw a movie called RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK.

Later I bought a VHS tape of a movie called RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK.

Then I bought a DVD of a movie called INDIANA JONES AND THE RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK.

Very good example. It's still Raiders of the Lost Ark, as the title screen says.
