Will the X-Men's 'codenames' actually play a factor in X3?

^ Umm I think we just posted VERY similar posts.

Lol.

You're right we did! Sorry...never noticed yours.

I think I was in the middle of writing mine when you posted.

:)

Jean Grey doesn't have a codename.

Says who? :p

Apparently she's called Marvel Girl at one point. *shrug* I must have missed that line.

She's never called Marvel Girl, it says that Colossus' name is Piotr Rasputin, but we have been assured that he will be called Peter.

Magneto uses codenames because he wants them to accept their mutant heritage and use their powers for domination...homo superior...a mutant name seperates the human side(Logan) from the mutant/domintate side(Wolverine). The X-Men hardly use code names because there is still some human sympathy left in them and want to be able to associate themselves with homo sapiens.
Exactly, that why in X2 when he was talking to Pyro, he asked "whats your real name John?" Other than Storm, the X-men just use there real name, because they want to convey that they are no different than regular humans.

I also think (in my humble opinion) that Storm and Rogue pass off as "names" alot more than the other codenames...u know wut I mean?

Yup, that is why Magneto only uses codenames....Mystique, Sabretooth, Toad, Pyro, etc...I only think he uses the real names to adress the X-Men because he thinks they are inferior because of their views. Codenames convey power and fear a lot better than a regular name.

^ But he doesn't.

In fact, Magneto is pretty much the only one who calls Logan, "Wolverine".

Well, we know that Kitty won't be referred to as "Shadowcat", so atleast for her, the codenames won't be big. As for the others, it kinda depends on the character. Certain characters tend to be called by their real names more often and some tend to be referred to by their codenames more often, in both comic and movie cannon. Cyclops and Storm tend to be referred to by their codenames, but people like Colossus and Nightcrawler tend to be referred to by "Pete" and "Kurt". It basically comes down to what's easier to say, I guess.

You didn't miss anything. As Bob Jahovic said, she's never been called Marvel Girl in the movies. The website simply fills in information based on the comic book origins . . . for instance, the website mentions Cyclops' brother, Alex (Havok), who has never been acknowledged in the movies.

Yeah, it was right before the Gambit cameo. :D

I like it when they call each other by their code names. But, some situations seem kinda of werid to call them by their codenames.

I think their normal names are fine when the are in the mansion, casual situations etc but when they are in battle they take on different personas which are better suited to their codenames.

Exceptions would be Storm who I think sounds better when she is called Storm all the time and Cyclops being called Cyke by Logan (of course)

Sorry I was celebrating my 13th post, I agree it'd be cool to use their codenames, but some people would have to like Gambit's real name, and Colossus', can't really say them.

Shutup! I'm not a newb, my bro has all the old X-men comics and passed em down to me (plus all other comic books spiderman, superman etc.) And I go to the comic book store every week:D Huzzah!

I wonder if anyone will actually call Hank "Beast"?

Magneto calls Logan Wolverine because he knows that he is crazy and even refers to him as an "animal". Magneto knows that Wolverine doesn't care what humans think of him and will defend his life agasint anyone that corners him, mutant or human. Wolverine is very much a rogue mutant that "Xavier keeps a tight leash on."

Perhaps in the final battle?

But then again, i'd prefer if EVERYONE used their codenames in the final battle...

A few times, Magneto as even referred to Logan as "The Wolverine". When speaking to Prof. X in the plastic cell he says something along the lines of "Now you think that taking in The Wolverine will make up for what happened with Strykers son."

If they're fighting alongside military against the brotherhood, then they'll probably use codenames instead of their own.
