Movieweb Cast Interview

If the news surrounding this film couldn't get any more pathetic and ridiculous, this video comes along to only reinforce the thought. :whatever:

This is my message for the cast:

"You blew it!"

Its so obvious that these actors almost feel ashamed of having worked on this film. By the way Justin Chatwin has to widen his vocabulary when it comes to expressing his ideas (he describes something by saying "******ed"), especially in Hollywood were watching your tongue is important for your career.

They're still doing interviews? They haven't said "**** it, let's just pretend this never happened" yet?

Is there anything good to look forward to in this movie?

I mean, the movie LOOKS bad, but is that all?

What I'm saying is, what else am I missing about this movie that points to it being bad?

I feel so bad for Marsters...I can tell he wanted a better DB movie. Chatwin :down that guy sucks.

Chatwin obviously didn't give a rat's ass about pleasing the fans.

Chatwin looks kind of out of it there. Though he looked out of it in the movie too, so I shouldn't be surprised.

Here's what I've gathered, from watching these interviews. It's a bit scattered, so don't shoot me.

I really feel like Marsters and Chatwin both had a lot invested in this movie. I also really feel that neither feel as though their expectations were met. The difference between the two is that Marsters understands how fanbases work. Has obviously has an incredible following that allows him to open his mouth and demand changes.

Then there's Chatwin. The experience level for this guy pale's in comparison to the people he's on screen with. This is the first time he's even been in the limelight. It honestly seems like he's afraid to say certain things. Maybe I'm the only one that sees it, but the look in his eyes when he's talking about the hair or the storyline, it looks like he's holding something back.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm more annoyed with the constant smiles Rossum and Chung keep up. It's like they just pretend that everything is perfect about the movie.

Listening to Marsters and Chatwin reminds me of Jackman and Reynolds when they talk about Wolverine.

Now hear me out, I AM NOT saying Chatwin could've been the greatest Goku by any means. I don't know what he could've done. I'm just saying he knows his performance needed a lot work. He's just a young, inexperienced guy that landed a dream role that got put on the fast track. Call me crazy, but that's a lot of pressure. I'd have trouble too.

chatwin didn't seem very positive in the interview.

Not one bit. Like Scribe mentioned, at certain parts of the interview its almost as if Chatwin wants to say "I wasn't happy with my performance, but thats not my complete fault because we had a mediocre director along with a studio that could care less about the source material". James Marsters also seems disappointed as well.

Emmy Rossum seems as if she's hiding her disappointment by putting on a fake/forced smile and I don't really believe she fought for the blue hair (we actually got a contradictory report from someone on set) either.

Can anyone answer my question?

I want to find something good in this movie, but everyone has been shooting it down for the most part. I was just trying to find out some more word-of-mouth about the movie because it seems like (as mentioned) Chatwin and Marsters were really into making the movie right, but had to "settle".

There is nothing good about this film. The best aspect of the film and its still very average is the score composed by Brian Tyler. The 86 minute running time, awkward pacing, horrible editing, sloppy and unnecessary plot holes within an already diluted watered down version of the King Piccolo arc (among other parts of Dragonball) written by Ramsey makes for an excruciating viewing.

As you can see the DB:E section here at SHH is now a ghost town pretty much. A lot of people had hope (I was optimistically skeptical) , but once detrimental information started leaking (rushed,re-shoots, etc) and the trailers were a disappointment to most, and then the clips surfaced which only ended up confirming most of our fears of the actors screwing up the roles.

So a combination of a rushed schedule, hiring a director like James Wong, Fox handling the franchise, hiring a two bit writer, and hiring a cast that didn't seem prepared to take the roles and ended up giving tired and boring performances (because of the rushed scheduling most likely), along with a pathetic $45 million dollar budget for one of the most popular anime adaptations made for a horrible result named "Dragonball: Evolution".

Chow Yun Fat is in it. He barely acted like Roshi but still, its Chow Yun Fat. That's all I can think off. craigdbfan summed it up.
