So I gotta move out of my apartment tomorrow. Things are mostly done, but thanks in large part to my friend bailing on me, im still not done. And if I keep at it alone until its done, I wont be leaving anytime soon.

So my question is... can I just leave the **** I don't want anymore at the apartment when I leave? I've already come to terms with the fact that I wont be getting my security deposit back, that doesn't concern me. What I don't want is to get hit with an extra charge on the back end after I get settled into my new location.

This is my first time leaving an apartment so Im not sure how this would play out if I just left the apartment as is with stuff that Im just gonna junk anyways.

It really depends on how the Landlord deals with things. Some might just let it slide but some might try to bill you after for a moving fee for your junk. You could ask a neighbor and see if they know.

Mine would hire a moving/garbage company then bill me the cost.

It is best to just ask and work with your building manager instead of guessing. Unless they are complete *******s.
When I moved I left all my stuff at the dumpster and let people just take it all.

It would be a pretty crappy move just leaving everything. Is there a dumpster close by, throw all the trash in there. If there's furniture or stuff you think other people can use, just leave it in an alley. My wife and I moved cross country recently and we just took stock of what we could and couldn't take, anything that we didn't think would make it we just left by the dumpster, don't know if it was thrown out or taken, didn't care, but the management for the apt was good so we didn't want to screw them.

I would do this. At least get it out of the apartment if it's going to be a pain in the butt for the landlord to move. That gives him more incentive to charge you.

I left a folding table in my previous apartment, and I don't think we were dinged. But if we had left couches and beds and big heavy things...that's a huge pain. Just get it outside.

It wasn't huge ****. I had gotten rid of the furniture and stuff. It was just like... random crap.

But whatever, my friend who bailed on me last night came thru this morning and helped me out. I got everything out. Only thing I left behind were some cleaning supplies in the cabinet. Everything got removed from the apartment and im now two states away and 4 more to go.
