Mr. Freeze one liners...

Don't lose hope remember the movies don't end when Nolan finishes his 3 they just go on hiatus.

I still hope to see The Mad Hatter and Man-Bat in a movie myself one day as well as Rupert Thorne and Hugo Strange.

Yeah. Because of Nolan's decision to have a more realistic portrayal, I'd love to see someone come in and do a more 'unrealistic' take...using rogues like Freeze, Poison Ivy (just to redeem those two), Clayface, and The Ventriliquist and Scarface.

"Watch the numbers, Batman...for they are the harbingers of your DOOM!"

They got Arnold to say "Harbinger" = hahaha

CFE

what the heck is a harbinger?

also about never seeing freeze or ivy or bane, never say never! even though nolan vowed to have a pretty realistic take on batman, that doesnt mean that someone after nolan will do the same. the studio may enjoy nolan while hes still directing, but i think WB wont be able to help themselves when it come to profits, and they may be interested to do something different from what nolan did. cuz cmon, will everyone always want a nolanized realistic batman? after a while, no. they will want something different, fresh, and more exicting. something like the spiderman movies. unrealistic characters made real in film. as corny as freeze was, cmon, if you gave arny the chance to do a dark freeze in a darker movie, with those awsome freeze effects, you would have the audience sayin "screw realism, this rocks! he is so badass and the effects are cool!".

Carl Grissom was intended to be Rupert Thorne.

Or maybe BC Grissom sounds more badass than Thorne...well, maybe equally badass.

Another of my favorite Freeze lines:

Guard: Please, so mercy!

Freeze: Mercy? I'm afraid my condition has left me cold to your pleas of...mercy.

I'll be the first to say, there were too many puns, but some of them worked well and were certainly in character of Freeze. He makes puns every now and then in TAS and the comics, B&R just took it too far.

...No. I always go a size smallah. Makes me look slimmah.

"Tonight, Hell freeeeeeeezes ovah!"

"If I must suffer...Humanity will suffer with me!!!"

Um Arnold...we've been suffering with you for last hour and twenty minutes...

how long of a hiatus?

However long WB wants to wait to find attach a new creative team. Probably 3 years since that seems to be the average between Batman films.

As a fellow fan of the 70's Batman you know damn well the only thing those two had in common was that they were Gotham crime bosses. No justice has been done to the character on film.

yeah, but those things are always a little bit strange. Of course Mr Grissom is different from Rupert Thorne , but even the Animated Thorne is different. Not to mention the BR Penguin is an completely different character than his comic counterpart. How much are you allowed to change and not loose the "right" for using the name? Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 3 is called Gwen Stacy, but she is MUCH different from the real comic Gwen Stacy. But still, they share a name.

So I don't think to call Grissom "Rupert Thorne" would have been so wrong.

Here's the thing though the examples you cited still retained elements that made them recognizable to a fan of the comics. For example in TAS Thorne's look and calculating personality were still there & he still tried to have Batman killed. Gwen was still a pretty and sassy blonde. Penguin was still a short crime boss with an outsider's complex and a penchant for trick umbrellas. With Grissom there was nothing that made him stand out from any other stock mob boss film character so I'm glad they changed the name. At least with the other supporting characters from the comics (Gordon, Dent, Vale) elements still retained that were faithful to past interpretations of the characters.

I love that scene. Arnold comes across as so wonderfully driven by his wife's death. I think that's the best set of lines for Freeze in that scene, right there.

"Their bones will turn to ICE! Their blood with freeze in my hands!"

I think I'm the only one here who loves Arnold enough to love this performance of his. He's obviously trying to be funny with the one liners and he succeeds. He's honestly one of the few things I like about B&R. When he's serious, he's wonderful, menacing or even slightly moving.

I love Arnold Schwarzenegger.

This thread is the sole highlight in one of the worst comic adaptations ever. Freeze was great!

totally agree. ya know, i dont really hate B&R as much as i used to. i bought the batman anthology recently, and was surprised at how much i actually enjoyed this because it was hysterically funny, and had a REALLY awsome performance by Ahnuld. i cant get enough of him in this, LOL.
