Can we assume that the blonde female airforce Captain Johnny winks at that is in the trailer when the FF are being briefed is Carol Danvers?

it's Frankie Raye(is that how you spell it?)

Not Ms. Marvel, she later becomes Nova....but that is probably for another movie.

Frankie Raye becomes Nova eventually - Carol Danvers becomes Ms Marvel/Warbird/Binary

Frankie was never in the military, Carol would be the smarter choice and her origin is linked to the Kree, so a better choice really in an alien/space/science exploration based superteam movie franchise.

I don't know what to tell ya....the female officer is Frankie Raye in the movie....:yay:

Bloody hell - its making a purple haired asian woman a chameleon rather than Psylocke proper in X3 all over again, or blending caliban and quicksilver into Callisto's character in order to save on cast but in turn make a mutant with multiple abilities, which doesnt fit.

I am sure Fox does not own the rights to MS. MARVEL, and since Frankie dated the Torch and became the Surfer's replacement - NOVA - and it's been stated that Frankie is in this movie...

And on the subject of supporting characters, I wonder who Fox CAN use in a sequel. They owned the SILVER SURFER anyway, but I wonder which characters and villians are considered F4 property? Could they meet the BLACK PANTHER, or does some one else own him? How about the INHUMANS? The entire KREE thing was introduced in the F4, but the Skrull/Kree War is associated with the Avengers, so are they off limits? Who besides Doom can we hope to see...Mole Man, Skrulls, Puppet Master, Red Ghost, Mad Thinker, Frightful Four, Dragon Man...?

Bubbadoom: Same kinda thing with the avengers movie. Now Marvel is making its own movies, can they get Cap, Thor, Ant-Man (man, dont get me started on making an ant-man movie and 1) not even using Pym as the constant main character, and 2) using possibly Hank's lamest identity), Hulk and IronMan to be in it? Or do various other studios own the movie rights to those individual characters - cos we dont want a tema made up of D-Man, Photon, Beta Ray Bill, US agent, and Jocasta or something.

Does the F4 frasnchise revert back to Marvel at some time?

Chris - last I heard, Marvel does own all those characters so an AVENGERS movie is in the future. They have IRON MAN and HULK in the works now, ANT MAN is in development, and they hope to start CAPTAIN AMERICA and THOR in a year of so. Once all that is done, I understand they plan to do THE AVENGERS!

It would be nice if Marvel got all their characters back at some point, just to be able to cross them over as they see fit; but as long as SPIDER-MAN and even the FANTASTIC FOUR are making money for other studios, I doubt that will happen.

On the subject of such matters, it always annoys me when they make up minor characters like the torturer guy, the General or Hell even the scientist Reed contacted. Aren't there enough random characters to throw in for a cameo? Have him refer the General tk Hank Pym, pick an actal military officer from the comics, pick a random super-villain's seret identity and make them the torturer! Minor stuff, like Gyrich in X-Men 1 or, yes, Frankie.

Actually Frankie Raye did have a technical background when she was originally introduced. I can't recall just what without checking the issue (#164).
She was never in the military (as far as we know) but regardless I don't see this change as that big a deal all things considered.

That would not be a better choice. Frankie Raye was a notable character in the FF comics, she also has history with Galactus.

I give you a pass :cwink: cause I know you are probably a movie and not a comic fan of the FF but Ms Marvel would not be a better choice at all.

Long term fans would be complaining big time about that.

And welcome to the FF hype dude.

Quite wrong was the powers that be . The Xmen has years of history and many different mutants. Now to be fair the Asian female in X3 was nerver hinted at being Psylocke or Betsy. she was never called by name in the movie period.

As for Callisto there was no need to use the character to blend other mutants if that were the case when a mutant named Cerebra all ready exist in the comics. She was from that 2099 imprint or universe. Her powers were very similar to the new powers given to Callisto. When i saw how Callisto was dipicted Cerebra came to mind. Just a case of the people at FOX and marvel not doing their homework.

Gosh, for a minute there i thought Ms Marvel was actually going to be in the movie when i saw the thread.

My only basis of thinking Carol'd be a better choice is that a blonde Air Force Captain shows up as an important liason with the FF for a cosmic based threat and its not Carol Danvers.

If its a cameo, then Carol would be a better choice because its the identity of the person thats shown and ties to other bits of the MU are kinda cool.

If this Captain is going to become superpowered and romantically involved with Johnny, then yeah Frankie'd be better - but Johnny really just flirts with everyone at the moment with no focus on developing feelings. Making a military captain involved in fairly high level stuff who just shows up to give info for two minutes of screen time and making her Frankie just because there's an FF specific character called Frankie Raye who was involved with Radd later on makes for poor "character dropping". Only in my opinion though o course.

I just prefer that if allowances are to be made on origin stories (which in most cases they have to be because of the science involved and the period they're set in), then characters should be who they have always been. Kinda like introducing Alica's father in this just to get his reaction about Ben, but not have him be Phillip the Puppet Master because that villain isnt going to be used in future films because that character wouldnt work well on screen due to the farsical nature of his threat level.

Diehard fans of the character cling on to that bit of hope.

BTW the actress that played Psylocke (Mei Melancon) says she filmed more scenes but they ended up on the cutting room floor. One of those feat the trademark Psi-blade.

I think its that when a comic fan sees a pink haired asian woman show up in X3 and isnt introduced with a name, then the look is enough for us to think its a nce psylocke cameo. Then they go and give her completely different powers and the director says they never said she was psylocke, so it doesnt count as screwing up the character, its just coincidence that they had one of the more visual on screen followers be a pink haired asian resembling Psylocke but was never intended to be Psylocke.

Yeah but Fox did announce her as Psylocke and the actress said she shot scenes where her character used a psiblade (one of Psylocke's trademarks) and shot mental daggers at the X-Men.
