MST3K Kickstarter

Well, I can say, Paul Rudd in fact did NOT prepare me for Mac and Me. That was one hell of a movie.

Wait until you get to Atlantic Rim, the first 21st century movie that they riff. The movie has a name very familiar to 90's hip hop fans.

Not all the jokes land with this crew, but when they do, they are really funny. Coke-eotomy during Mac and Me was probably my favorite.

They have also been able to make the bots voices to be discernible from each other, which was a big complaint from the first season.

Lords of the Deep was a trip.

"That's so Raven. That's so Raven"

I have not seen the other three movies yet.....I want to know if there will be more Hassling of the Hoff like there was in Season One with Star Crash.

Got through THE DAY TIME ENDED and ATOR. Both have a strange place in my childhood. Ator because I would stay up late with my grandma watching the Late Late Movie on CBS 2 in NYC and Ator was one of the films they showed and I watched it straight through knowing even then how bad it was compared to say, Conan. The Day Time Ended has the distinction of freaking me out as a child for whatever reason. Looking at it today, over 35 years later and... I don't get why it affected me so as a child? It's definitely trying to rip off Close Encounters in some way, but it's so blatant in its "wannabeness".

There was no Hassels to be Hoffed, but there are several Six Million Dollar Man references in Killer Fish due to Lee Majors.

There are only so many times you can go to that Hasselhoff well.

True.

Out of the movies they had, the only one I had heard of before the season was released were Mac and Me, all because of Paul Rudd and Atlantic Rim. Mac and Me was my most anticipated out of all of the season two films because of Paul Rudd.

Watched The Day Time Ended. Not really sure what I just watched.

I think I enjoyed this season a lot more even if it was shorter. The actors did seem more comfortable in their roles, and I liked the new robot characters had a bit more to do this time.

But can anyone explain, what is Gypsy doing when she pops into the movie room? Is she just doing repairs or bringing snacks or something?

This was my reaction as a kid when my family rented it in the 80's.

It just doesn't go anywhere plot wise. It's almost like they spent a whole movie on what should be the the first quarter of a film's set up. It's like if Back To The Future only showed Marty's time in high school and Doc Brown prepping the Delorean and ended with the Libyans killing Doc and Marty going into the past... And that was it.

What's everyone's favorite stinger this season? Lords Of The Deep made me die with laughter.

Hate to say it, but I'm not feeling these new seasons. Maybe I've just been too spoiled by Mike Nelson and the gang and I'm too biased to keep an open mind, but I'm not laughing much at the new crew. A lot of the jokes don't land for me, and they sound like they're trying too hard. I know MST3K is scripted, but these new episodes "feel" more scripted than the old ones.

See I'm a Joel guy and that's kinda how I felt about late season Nelson episodes, especially the SciFi channel era.

So, I am assuming they didn't have audio for a chunk of Killer Fish.

Was rewatching the Mac & Me episode today. The film was never a part of my childhood for whatever reason. I was aware of it as an ET ripoff but I never saw it until this season of MST. Still, the first watch through was fun but I was more interested in Jonah and the Bots' commentary that the film itself kinda stayed remote.

This second time I made a decision to concentrate on the movie and... Shiva H. Vishnu! I mean... What were any of the people involved in making this thinking? And yes, I get it... "They wanted to make a quick buck". Still though, you have to also provide a certain modicum of quality in certain aspects.

On the other hand I guess there really are just a lot of morons out there that will literally watch and enjoy anything and one can't ever go wrong in underestimating how low their bars are set too.

But that ending? I mean... Film was already stupid beyond belief but on the second watch through it hit me like a sledge hammer how almost unapologetically ****ing dumb this movie was. It's like and evil person's version of what they think appeals to an audience from movies like ET or hell, even Short Circuit.

I mean... I don't wanna spoil the ending but it's so ****ing weird in it's visual you'll think you dreamt it after you shut it off.

Just remember, there were probably some cuts to cut down on the time that made it a bit more nonsensical. (thinking post McD's party)

Although, too bad they didn't get this version of the film.

I had never heard of Mac and Me until Paul Rudd began airing a clip on Conan
