MTV developing Scream series

On one hand, I'm surprised/disappointed that so many of the kids survived, but on the other, it makes sense if they're keeping the high school setting next season. You can get away with it in the films, going to college in Scream 2. Obviously with a change in setting like that, the characters we know will find themselves surrounded with new people (Sidney's new BF, his pal, her roommate, Randy's classmates). But if you're keeping the characters in high school, it would be a hard sell. Say only Emma and Noah survived. You need a bigger cast than that, and you can't really make sense out of them having a brand new social circle made up of people they never even interacted with last season. So I can sort of live with how it played out body count-wise. As long as a few of them drop in S2. All that said, they still could've offed Branson.

As for the [blackout]Audrey[/blackout] reveal. I'm betting there's more to the story than what we're all meant to assume. Given that, when they were talking about the other masked person who [blackout]knocked Piper out[/blackout], they didn't show us a flashback of her doing the deed, I'm wondering if she's even the one who did it.

Great end to a great season.

Agree on Branson not getting the chop but I wonder if he'll become the Cotton type character of the show?

Solid finale, and I knew that [BLACKOUT]Audrey[/BLACKOUT] was up to something.

Before Piper was killed, she said something like "I have one more surprise before I open you up..."

Regarding Audrey, she did say that at one point she saw the mask and blacked out.
Split personality, maybe?

I'm leaning towards Audrey not necessarily being the second killer and instead perhaps Piper was in love with Audrey and the letters were love letters. Also Piper got jealous and killed Rachel out of jealousy and that's why she tried to make it look like suicide.

I definitely think [blackout]Audrey[/blackout] is the second killer. The "What are you waiting for?" scene is what sold me. It reminded me so much of Billy and Stu, when they stabbed each other. The line wasn't fear or defiance when the killer grabbed her. It was delivered almost as annoyance, like, "just hurry up and get this over with."

Also, am I crazy or was there a big implication by Piper that Emma's Mom is the one who committed the original Brandon James murders?

No, I picked up on something there, too.

Loved the finale, I'm not a gore fan so I wasn't bothered by the low body count as these characters have grown on me and with a second season I'd rather the core group stayed in tact.

We all guessed Piper was Brandon James daughter but the execution was really good, the actress did a great job, in a show that paints in broad strokes when characters flip the psycho switch they often overdo it and it comes off really hammy, but she gauged it just right, coming off as scarily unhinged.

Poor Brooke trapped in the freezer. :( Glad they got there in time and defrosted her.

The letters Audrey burned at the end looked like a checklist of how to recreate the Brandon James events, which makes me think she's involved but not the main puppet master. I'm going with Noah, he's obsessed with Brandon James and has been the narrator of the story in many ways, he's making a real life movie.

Definitely, they've been pushing all season that Brandon James didn't commit the original murders, Emma's mom actually said she thought he was innocent. My money was on the Sheriff but they literally gutted that theory.

I'm wondering if [blackout]Piper[/blackout] was [blackout]Audrey's[/blackout] first kill. I think [blackout]she[/blackout]may have only wounded people i.e. [blackout]Jake at the Bowling alley[/blackout] whereas [blackout]Piper[/blackout] killed people.

I must say that I had realised pretty early on that [blackout]Piper[/blackout] was one of the killers. It wasn't into the tonight that I fully bought into [blackout]Audrey[/blackout] been the other.

The questions remaining are why did [blackout]Audrey kill Piper?[/blackout] and did [blackout]Daisy have twins?[/blackout]

Last thing I will say is I understand going into season two with the same actors but I was hoping for a new cast, maybe in season three.

I agree now that I know the cast are coming back in Season Two.

Again I agree about the execution and the [blackout]actress who played Piper[/blackout] did a great job.

I hope there is another killer and it's not [blackout]Audrey[/blackout]. It would be cool if they we just throwing us off the scent with that scene. I don't think Noah though I'm going with [blackout]Jake[/blackout].

Yeah they definitely hinted at that, I'm sure there'll be more to it in Season Two.

A nice show.:woot:
The killers Audrey/Piper were obvious for me, like I said here.

I don't know, yeah it wasn't bad overall (though it was convoluted and had terrible acting) but it wasn't good... this episode and season. But, that tree-rope-trick death was awesome.

The killer reveal was weak, I can't piece together the previous kills like I could for Scream 1/2/4. This was more 3 than any of the other films sadly.

I will say, the meta/pop culture things were the best parts overall this season... it was alright on humor outside of those notions, really liked Jake's "CPR" move this episode.

I feel like the mask, the killer, the victims, and the actors don't warrant another season. If this was another ghostface rip-off messing with younger Woodsboro kids I might like it more but being called Scream just wasn't worth this all. At best, wipe the slate clean and try another new killer, with a new town, and new kids.

Only reason I'd want these kids back, is so they can all get killed.

I'm thinking a part of the reason why they all lived was because there's more to these people. Now that I think about it, Brooke got off pretty easily. And Jake was super helpful and knowledgeable as to how to find Brooke. Noah for all we know might have more going on. Who knows? The Audrey thing definitely seems like the tip of the iceberg. Like there's a whole other layer not known to us yet that we'll find out and is at part of the mystery for next season.

Also, injuries and such barely have an effect on this show.

Emma's gut slash, Jake's heart stab, Brooke's arm slashes...

It was a decent finale. its not on par with the films but is entertaining for an MTV series. The reveal and characters roaming around the party at the end were very Scream. I think it made sense to keep a good amount of survivors since the mystery isn't over and it's better to have more fleshed out characters on the show. It will make for a better season because viewers might care more about who lives and dies. Also it'd be better to follow a more close knit group

So just like every other horror movie then. Not to have a go but I hate complaints like these about slasher stuff. They're always like that.

That's because he was originally going to die and there was the suspicion that he was faking it.

Interesting collection of details on [blackout]Audrey[/blackout] I found on Tumblr...

Audrey is definitely the second killer.

1. Rachel was killed but Rachel had nothing to do with Emma, she was a random kill. (1x02)

2. Who was with Emma when her sex tape was released? Piper. Who was with Noah when he accidentally released the tape? Audrey. (1x04)

3. The Brandon James mask had her DNA in it. (1x06)

4. The video which Emma destroyed in which showed Audrey was very angry. We have no idea what happened after. (1x06)

5. She pointed out that there was a knife behind the loud speaker in the Mr. Branson’s room. (1x08)

6. She showed the video of Kieran with Nina right after Piper brought Emma to the old lady who pointed Kieran out. (1x09)

7. The guy who called her a ‘*****’ for not letting her into Brooke’s house was later killed. Another random kill that had to do with Audrey. (1x10)

8. She was face to face with the killer and only got cuts, nothing serious. (1x10)

9. She randomly followed Emma to the lake and knew exactly where to go. (1x10)

10. She shot Piper right before Piper was going to reveal a secret then stated ‘***** talks too much’ (1x10)

11. Letters showing she had been talking with Piper. (1x10)
I didn't think of the Rachel thing.

Anyway, I hope some of the character dynamics get shaken up in S2. I feel like Kieran barely interacted with anyone besides Emma, and that includes his own father. I enjoyed the Audrey/Brooke scene we got in the finale. Hopefully Noah interacts more with people that aren't Audrey and Emma.

Again I agree about the execution and the [blackout]actress who played Piper[/blackout] did a great job.

Just like with her Dad they didn't find her body so I think she may well be back for season 2 as well.

I hope there is another killer and it's not [blackout]Audrey[/blackout]. It would be cool if they we just throwing us off the scent with that scene. I don't think Noah though I'm going with [blackout]Jake[/blackout].

I am certain what they showed at the end has a lot more to it than what it implicates, Audrey's story will be one of the big unraveling mysteries of season 2.

Yeah they definitely hinted at that, I'm sure there'll be more to it in Season Two.

I'm thinking in season 2 they may well delve a bit more into the Brandon James murders with more flashbacks.

Hit back with a few replies to this

Audrey is definitely the second killer.

1. Rachel was killed but Rachel had nothing to do with Emma, she was a random kill. (1x02) but why kill her when she loved her? although in order to later set up Kieran with the tape thus does make sense.

Only thing I can add is her voice was on the phone but that also happened later with Will so the killer(s) definitely had some high tec voice changing software anyway.

2. Who was with Emma when her sex tape was released? Piper. Who was with Noah when he accidentally released the tape? Audrey. (1x04) good points, but could they gave been merely revenge leaks girl her kissing tape getting leaked?

3. The Brandon James mask had her DNA in it. (1x06) yeah they never explained that

4. The video which Emma destroyed in which showed Audrey was very angry. We have no idea what happened after. (1x06) theres gotta be more to it but the fact she was with Rachel has me thinking she can't have gone off and killed her.

5. She pointed out that there was a knife behind the loud speaker in the Mr. Branson’s room. (1x08)cant remember that tbh

6. She showed the video of Kieran with Nina right after Piper brought Emma to the old lady who pointed Kieran out. (1x09) definitely seems she was trying to set him up, coincidence?

7. The guy who called her a ‘*****’ for not letting her into Brooke’s house was later killed. Another random kill that had to do with Audrey. (1x10)Thats a good one, again didn't think about that. I do wonder if he was killed just to get people away from the party though cause the killer(s) wanted Brooke alone

8. She was face to face with the killer and only got cuts, nothing serious. (1x10)even the way that was cut was suspicious and her tone of voice sounded like she knew who it was. But let's not forget both Jake and Brooke survived attacks aswell. Jakes is still more suspicious to me as we didn't see him attacked and it was his own knife in his shoulder.

9. She randomly followed Emma to the lake and knew exactly where to go. (1x10)could just be horror convenience but yep suspicious

10. She shot Piper right before Piper was going to reveal a secret then stated ‘***** talks too much’ (1x10) I actually think that one was because Piper was a podcaster

11. Letters showing she had been talking with Piper. (1x10) the letters could be innocent though and merely to throw us off the scent. She could have merely been talking to Branden James Kid without knowing it was that Piper although that's a stretch.

To help explain a lot of the secrets of the season, you really need to have followed the Q and As with the actors on the official twitter after each episodes. For example:

Bex Taylor-Klaus revealed that Piper killed Rachael without Audrey's approval, and that at the end she did shoot Piper before she could reveal Audrey's involvement. Also Piper didn't find out she was Brandon's daughter, until Audrey stole the evidence from the police (as per Amelia Rose Blaire's QNA.) In a bizarre detail too, Cassie James knew Piper was Brandon's daughter and lied to Emma lol (as per showrunner Jill Blotevogel)

Little late didn't get to chime in for the finale, but I loved it. Definitely saw the one reveal of
Piper
coming but it was very well done. The second reveal of
Audrey
was one of the possible ones I had thought of but wasn't sure. A great first season though and I'm excited to see what they do now with a second season.
