Fantasy Mufasa: The Lion King

yeah wouldn’t have made sense if his parents named him Scar.
I like the twist, that Scar was meant to be king.

Yeah, Scar being just a nickname and not his original name has always made sense to me, especially since every other character has a name of Swahili origin.

The animals actually emoting here is the only improvement I can give this movie. Other than that, seems like the same lifeless dreck as the 2019 movie so it'll be an instant skip.

Yeah, the only plus I see is that Disney actually spent a few dollars making the animals show some semblance of emotion this time. But scant praise for something that they obviously had the technology to do before doesn't mean anything when this again looks like a soulless cash grab that will probably make another billion for Disney. Again, they could just make Lion King 1 1/2. There's at least a basis for that.

This looks very bland. I'm surprised Barry Jenkins would make something even less visually appealing than the 2019 version.

I can't see this one even approaching the box office of that. I don't think any of the sequels to the live-action remakes have done well? (Alice, Maleficent etc)

The only live action sequel that would have been a genuinely good idea is The Jungle Book 2 because it felt like there were more things to explore from that world but for reasons unknown it's been stuck in development hell even though the first movie made just shy of $1B.

I think Mufasa stands a good chance of doing better than Alice Through the Looking Glass and Maleficent 2 at least thanks to the popularity of The Lion King in general.

So John Oliver isn't voicing Zazu this time around, sounds like. But whoever they got sounds pretty similar for the younger one.

Meanwhile, okay, the studio realized that color is a thing. Still doesn't mean this movie needs to be one.

So further confirmation Sonic will steamroll it.

Disney, this was a mistake greenlighting this.

Does Sonic 3 even have tracking at the moment? Sonic 2 only opened with around $71-72 million.
I can't see Sonic 3 doing that much better than Sonic 2. I also imagine it'll be frontloaded and come out on top on its opening weekend but I wouldn't be surprised if Mufasa ends up having better legs at the box office.

I'm really interested in watching this. My expectations are a little low due to the 2019 film, though, as it relates to the visual style, but I'm just going in for the story and the music, itself. I feel like those two elements will be the highlight of the film.

I will say that the facial animation looks better than the 2019 film in that they seem to be emoting more. The eyes look more expressive.
