Fantasy Mufasa: The Lion King

Yeah, it was definitely piling on throughout the movie but I think given his character, Scar showed a resilience to maintain his friendliness and brotherly love. I never got the impression that Scar was jealous of Mufasa, especially when they were cubs, which is an age where jealousy is muchveasier to develop as a character trait.

Scar was a chilled and compassionate dude, perhaps a bit too laid back. Unfortunately, leadership from his dad was poor, often being neglected by him and was never taught anything of value on how to be a good and brave king. Scar deserved better and should have been raised by his mother. It's only after where he felt betrayed by Mufasa over Sarabi that it all came to ahead with Scar having a change in character. I felt bad for him. That moment of redemption when he remembers his mother's words about him finding his courage atoned for his betrayal but the name change would forever mark him (pun not intended) so it just seemed like he was never allowed to be forgiven and to move on. So although he was allowed to stay, he was made to feel like an outcast which was kind of cruel.

As for Mufasa, he was fortunate to have been raised the right way by his parents and then again by Scar's mother and then reunites with his real mother. Both Mufasa and Scar experienced major challenges in life, it's just sad and unfortunate that a moment of jealousy sowed the seed of taking such a compassionate, funny and caring character in Taka and making him into the evil villain he later becomes. Had Scar not felt betrayed by Mufasa over Sarabi, both Taka and Mufasa would have governed the new kingdom together.

To be honest, a live action Lion King never appealed to me. The 2D animated movie is so great because quite simply you can have much more human emotion from the face of a cartoon lion than you can a CGI animated creature that has to look "realistic", if that makes sense.

I really enjoyed this movie and I really liked Taka. It just sucks that the reason Taka ends up going the route we all know he takes is down to the same old bs that usually ruins relationships.

Yeah I thought this was a much better movie than the last one just because they had to tell an original story and not regurgitate the original 2D animated movie.

I just don’t think people care about, “why did Scar turn evil?” prequel angle.

Not to mention the fact that the appeal is to see your favorite cartoon turn live-action is already done. So the moment they make these sequels/prequels, the novelty has worn off.

It’s not this Lion King people are in love with anyway.

Hmmm we’ll see what Christmas brings I’m thinking this could see a huge boost.

Can't say I am surprised. I never sense any hype for this, and yeah the 2019 one made money, but did anyone actually like it? Even if this one was better and had to tell an original story, it still was following up THAT. So, this sounds about right to me. Sonic 3 had a lot more hype

I watched it. It was....just ok. The last half of the movie especially was SO RUSHED it gave me whiplash.

I felt like they didnt do the greatest job of turning Scar into the Scar we know, it was also very sudden. He goes from the wimpy kind hearted "Prince" to conniving son of a lion within 5 minutes of a scene.

Mufasa is such a Mary-Sue or I guess Lion-Sue? Lion-Stu? Can literally do no wrong.

"Kimba" as I call him in my mind because thats what the lion king ripped off and its time for that white lion to get his revenge...

Had such a horrible song....I dont understand how you can give your villain such a bad song lol. Esp considering how great "Be Prepared" is, in this they have the villain singing something like "Bye bye". Im mean and menacing "bye bye". I shall kill you and get my revenge "bye bye". All the songs were bad to mediocre at best.

Its amazing how watered down these things are compared to what we got as children.

We most definitely did not need Timon/Pumbaa interjecting throughout the movie. It was stupid.

Most of the Disney live-action remakes are trash. It's not surprising.

No one cares about Scar's backstory. Also, this version appears to contradict everything that was established before. Mufasa and Simba didn't come from a long line of kings and nobility. What? How is that possible? What about the great kings of the past? What about Mufasa's father? Also, Mufasa and Scar being adopted brothers is stupid too. Why are they adopted now? What purpose does that serve?

The Lion King was never about Mufasa. It wasn't Mufasa's story. We don't need to see how Mufasa became king because it's not important.

My God. Those numbers are so bad. I know I shouldn't be surprised with box office numbers this year... but 35 million for The Lion King?

Every sequel (prequel) to their live-action remakes has never performed well. Alice, Maleficent and now this.
Disney should just stick to their list of "remakes to do" and don't bother with a sequel (looking at you Cruella).

Modern Disney just remind me of the money laundering Turkish barbershops propping up all over the UK. Ultimately no one is inside getting a hair cut.

Hmmm we’ll see what Christmas brings I’m thinking this could see a huge boost.

At this point,
I would hold off on the declaration that its dead. Weekend before christmas, its a marathon, not a sprint.

Sure, but even with a high multiplier, it opened too low for the budget it has to really profit. It probably won’t even make the opening weekend of the first film in its whole domestic run.

I mean, there are possible insane multipliers. The Greatest Showman opened with $14 million with its 4 day, that included Christmas. Ended with $174 million. So yeah, no final verdict yet.

I read that Jon Favreau changed the animals from having emotion in Lion King 2019 because it was "too cartoony and not realistic." If that's true, then that bugs me. Because he did a great job with Jungle Book 2016.

I really liked it I am still blown away by how realistic the backgrounds and stuff look one of my fave parts
