I think in the next Superman, the villains should be a team-up of Brainiac and Metallo.
Here's how I would do the whole thing
Metallo or John Corben would be an andrenaline junkie playboy who's just inherited his father's corporate business, and in one of his wild stunts he causes a near widespread tragedy, maybe skiing down a mountain and starting an avalanche or something that could've destroyed half the city or something. Superman is able to stop this calamity from happening but couldn't save Corben from his fate, who after the whole thing is told by his doctor that he is going to live the rest of his life paralyzed.
So he turns to his father's most prized scientist who already has the plans laid out for a biomechanical skeletal system that can be used to help the disabled return to their healthy normal lives. But only the prototype has been made and has not been fully developed, such things as undetainable strength of the bio-limbs are factors that would still have to be worked out. Corben doesn't care, he wants to be ready within two days for his famous sky dive into the heart of Metropolis.
The bio limbs are installed and on the day of the sky dive Corben hide his freakish, metallic skeleton by wearing an extra padded jump suit. The sky dive is into a crowd of onlookers. But Corben miscalculates his land and hits the side of a sky-scraper and crashes THROUGH a suspended train track running throughout the city. Both parts of the track break from their cables and fall onto down onto people, but Superman is their just in time to save the day.
As the people cheer him on for saving the day, Metallo climbs out of the hole he made into the ground enraged. He feels that if only Superman had only saved him earlier then he wouldn't have been such an abomination to himself. This only angers him more and he charges towards the Man of Steel.
The two get into a brawl that ends with Metallo all of his limbs broken and being dumped into the bottom of the sea.
I'm getting bored, so in short, this whole time Brainiac has been studying Clark and Kal-el, appeared in the form of a budding young reporter who is wooing Lois with his charm. Anyways he sees the Metallo/Superman brawl on tv and decides to look for Metallo. He rebuilds him, making Metallo into a better version of himself so that he exact his revenge on Superman, now with limbs made entirely of kryptonite. The second is taken to a metal refinery and at the end Superman is only seconds away from death before he is able to throw Metallo into a glowing pool of magma where he dies.
Superman returns back to the daily planet to discover that Brainiac has stolen his son and plans to make him into his own son. Superman valiantly hunts Brainiac to his hide out, and tries his hardest to defeat him, but he can't prevent Brainiac's ship made entirely of kryptonite to launch into space, with Brainiac and Superman's son inside.
The movie ends as sort of a cliffhanger, Superman is distraught out the loss of his son.
It's a bit sketchy in some places I know, I think I might actually go back, flesh it out, and actually make a fanfic out of it.
But yeah, it sets up the idea that I have for a the following Superman movie, in which Superman's son returns, augmented in every sense of the word, and he has been brought up by Brainiac to hate the very name Superman and humanity as we know it. He'd be the next enemy.
