My Quicktime player ain't working

Ever since I reformatted my comp everything has been running smoothly except for quicktime. None of my mov files will play. It always sez "windows encountered a problem blah blah" and closes. Even when I try to watch trailers on Firefox, it closes that as well. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and nothing.

Anyone know whats going on?

I think you need to download a fresh copy of Quick time from the site. I seems that the QT installer file is probably corrupt or have a virus resulting in some files being corrupted as well when you install it. Try downloading a new copy of Quick Time off the site and install.

all my mov files skip on VLC for some reason.

I've done that 3 times. Even downloading older versions too.

a lot better IMO, I hate having to find the codecs for QT and media player when VLC has about all of them

Hmm. Did you check the quick time site's FAQ? That could help.
