Mystic Arcana: The Magical Makeover

I'm not even going to bother picking it up. So sorry.

I actually thought the story was much better than the last two. I was just to tell how the Serpent Crown ended up where it did, and gave an interesting history to some other characters as well.

This story had basically the same format as the Black Knight story--random story from the characters' pasts that foreshadow where they'll end up. I enjoyed BK's more because I think the Black Knight and his legacy are some of the best parts of Marvel's comics, but this issue wasn't too bad. It all feels kind of meaningless without any indication of where all of this junk is going, though. No solicitations for any follow-up mini to these one-shots yet, even though the last one is out next month and we know which comics are coming out a month after that.

I don't think it was a bad story. I just can't help thinking that if those 3 gypsy witches were so impressed by Wanda's potential, they would have been keeping an eye on her (in a magical way). Then, when the senior Maximoffs died, one of those women should have taken in the twins. I don't know about the other two, but Margali Szardos was alive and well at that time. Hey, there's a What If! Suppose Margali had taken in Wanda and Pietro, and raised them along with Nightcrawler and Jimaine/Amanda?

Did the final issue with Sister Grimm never come out? It seems like it's been awhile. Any word on this?

No problem. How have you liked the series so far? I've been pretty much 100% disappointed.

But Black Knight Corp, I mean come on you're like the only Black Knight fan boy I've ever meet.

Yeah, that one was all right. But it was Sir Percy, not Dane Whitman. I'm more a Dane fanboy than a general Black Knight one.

Plus, the Mystic Tarot, which is basically like the Official Handbook to Magic in the Marvel Universe as of Mystic Arcana, doesn't mention any Black Knight, just the Ebony whatever-it-was that Ian McNee got. Also, barely any mention of gods' place in the new magic hierarchy and entirely too many mutants or mutant-related people. This is supposed to be about magic, not about how magical explanations can be applied to random X-characters. Magik and the Scarlet Witch should really be the only mutants in this thing. Maybe Dani Moonstar, too.

Better than solid. I think that was some of the best work of his career.

What's Grummett doing now, anyway? I haven't seen anything other than the BK issue since Ellis and Deodato took over Thunderbolts.

The last thing he did before BK was that Zemo mini. Other then that, I don't think he's doing anything.

Whatever, the Zemo thing falls under Thunderbolts for me. I thought of it as a Thunderbolts mini.

Okay, well whatever you want to call it, that's the last work he's done.

Actually, I'd make him co-artist on Avengers: The Initiative alongside Caselli. That way, Caselli gets more time and I'm spared anymore fill-ins by crapmasters like Uy.

Hmm...I don't think I'd put him on that book. It's already got a more animated vibe and Caselli deserves to have a book to himself. I might put Grummet on a new Young Avengers book. He'd work well on Iron Man, with the right writer, too.
