...then after giving it a second (or third) shot, you liked/hated it afterwards. I got the idea after watching Shutter Island again on Netflix.

I remember seeing this film in theatres and hating it. I had many issues with the idea of letting a mental patient roam an island by himself, and the big revelation felt too drawn out. But after watching it a few years later, all these issues felt lessened, and I actually liked the movie more than I remember.

I went back 4 pages and didn't see a topic like this. If there is one, then just let this one die in obscurity...

I first loved the Robocop trilogy as a kid,was a HUGE fan growing up and last year I bought the special edition of the first one and bought the other two,Just hate them now and can't even stand them anymore while watching&paying attention to stuff that I did not notice before.....I mostly hate the really really out dated special effects,I ended up selling them at my nearest pawnshop and sometimes I get the urge to buy them again But I just know I ain't really a fan anymore,But so that's one reason why I'm interested in the reboot!

I now love the prequel Star Wars trilogy even more than before!(yes even Ep1)

Terminator Salvation...liked it a lot in the theater, hated it on subsequent viewings. Same goes for Slumdog Millionaire, American Beauty, Road to Perdition, Jarhead, Natural Born Killers, Amelie, Inception, Gran Torino, Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Milk, Alejandro Inarritu's career, etc.

Blade Runner comes to mind. I watched it on SciFi after this trailer/commercial intrigued the hell out of me.

From the visuals and tone of that trailer, I didn't think Blade Runner could be more up my alley. However, thirty minutes in and I was bored to tears. I fell asleep not long afterwards. This has happened precisely one other time in my life. And the only reason I fell asleep was because I was heavily medicated.

Anyway, something about the movie really stuck with me and I eventually watched it again some years later. This time it had my rapt attention, my eyes were glued to the screen throughout, and when the credits started rolling, I knew I loved it. And it has since become one of my all-time favorites.

Hated the first Kill Bill movie, indifferent to the second. Caught part one on tv last week or the week before, loved it. Watched the second one, really liked it. Not as good as the first, but still.

I had the same thing happen , when I was younger a friend insisted I watched this . I thought the 'mother' line was corny and didn't pay attention after that until I passed out. Last year I decided to watch this and now I see what everyone was raving about.

I really liked "I Am Legend" when it first came out, then I saw it again a couple days later with a couple buddies in town from college for the holidays and then again because I later found out that seeing it in IMAX you'd get the special 6 minute preview of "The Dark Knight". After that viewing I was sick of that movie. Time has passed and I bought it brand new for cheap just to add to my collection, honestly don't know if I'll ever watch it again. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it but to much of it in such a short time period made me sick of it.

When I first saw The Social Network, I liked it. Didn't think it was that special. Then I watched it a second and third time... love this film to bits. It's genius as far as i'm concerned.

Shaun of the Dead. I thought it was okay the first time. Then it just kept growing on me. Now I love it.

The Dark Knight - Liked when it came out. Now I utterly hate it with a passion.

Watchmen - Lukewarm when it came out, have since come to appreciate it

Blech. Horrible movie.

Pretty much.

If I had to pick a film I hated the 1st time I saw it, it'd be "Step Brothers." It's grown on me though and I now find it quite funny.

I remember I hated Pitch Black when first I saw it on DVD. But I decided to give it a second a chance after a long time ago and I really love it now.

Blade Runner. Hated it at first. Boring boring boring. Decided to give it another go after hearing so many praise it. Saw something beautiful in it. It was almost like an archaeological dig. Every time I went back to it, I saw a little more of something that was so priceless. It's now my #1 sci-fi film.

It came out last year....

I hated Fast and Furious when I saw it in the theatre, but I think it may have had something to do with the crowd being annoying. Watched it on dvd, love it now.

The Matrix bored me the first time I saw it (I was 11), but on the second viewing I appreciated it more (I think I must have been 14). I think it was because I was too young to really understand it the first time.

I liked The Village first time I saw it. Then, in a second view I found it to be awful. After a little while, twist endings are a bad idea to repeat over and over.

I thought Zoolander was terrible the first time I watched it, and not even funny. When it started coming on TV alot I watched it again, and began to really love it. It's hilarious.

Signs.
Didn't think it was anything special at first.
On my second viewing, I really got the feeling of the movie.

Some movies, like Ang Lee's Hulk, get better with each viewing, but I never hated it. I'm more prone to growing to hate movies I liked than vice-versa.

Would you say that subsequent viewings are maybe effected by other peoples views/opinions of the film though?

PERSON 1 : Yeah i loved it
PERSON 2 : Well i for one hated it for this reason....
PERSON 1 : (watch it again) yeah that person was right i now hate it

And vise versa.

i didnt think anchorman and step brothers were that funny at first...changed my mind quick after another viewing, especially with anchorman, i was one of those aholes who quoted it non stop.

i liked superman returns the first few times, then i relized it had nothing to do with superman and watching the worlds most powerful hero lift stuff, then lay in a hospital bed for the last act of the movie cant really a good movie.

oh, and im very afraid to watch revenge of the sith again, because i watched that movie billions of times and loved it, but now ill have a feeling ill see everything wrong with it, so if i dont watch it, itll still be awesome. i have the high ground!

Superman Returns - loved it at first because I had the rose tinted glasses of a Fan on... have since begun to realize it's ridiculous flaws

If you move from "hate" or "love" or vice versa you're pretty fickle. I mean, how can you go from liking The Dark Knight to despising it, unless your opinion of a movie is related to public perception? Definitley sounds like some people decided they had to turn their backs on Superman Returns, too, because the internet told them to.

I remember feeling underwhelmed by Goodfellas the first time I saw it -- not because it was bad, but because it had been so hyped up by everyone I knew and it wasn't what I was expecting. I really like it now, though.
