Name That Song!

Why am I suddenly thinking of the song "Shock the Monkey?"

Back on track - where are our next three songs to guess?

At least you didn't have "Spank the Monkey" in your head. :)

1)

Jump back, what's that sound ?
Here she comes, full blast and top down.
Hot shoe, burnin' down the avenue.
Model citizen zero discipline
Don't you know she's coming home with me?

2)

L.A. proved too much for the man
So he's leavin' the life he's come to know
He said he's goin' back to find what's left of his world
The world he left behind not so long ago

3)

All my bags are packed I'm ready to go
I'm standing here outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye.
But the dawn is breaking it's early morning
The taxi is waiting, he is blowing his horn
Already I'm so lonesome, I could cry

These should be easy

The theme however isn't

It's not a common word shared in the titles or the artists..so what could it be? :)

Thank YOU!!! :D *relieved* I knew someone other than John Denver did it, but couldn't think of the name and it was driving me bonkers.

Didn't JD write it? I really don't recall, but I think he wrote it and PP&M covered it. Maybe it's the other way around, though.

Some other people have redone it too..

You guys are all right of course (cause I'm easy)

Now the theme....

Planes Trains and Automobiles is right!!

Well the official word was "travel" but yours is better :)

I'm not positive, but I think JD did write it. PP&M just sing it better. Just like Bob Dylan writes a lot of good stuff but almost anybody else sings it better. ;)

I usually do, except when I'm being sarcastic and posting a lot of :mad:s (I also do that when people mistake my gender. Speaking of which, how come I didn't make it into your Female Posters With The Most Attitude or Hottest Hype Chick polls? ) . :) Play your cards right and you might see a :D out of me.

I think it's time for KBOMB to take a turn choosing 3 songs for us to guess. ;)

Ok. Give me a couple. I'm having lunch. I'll post 3 in a few moments.

1.
Standing on the corner,
suitcase in my hand
Jack is in his corset, and [...] is her vest,
And me I'm in a rock'n'roll band Hah!
Ridin' in a Stutz Bear Cat, Jim
You know, those were different times!
Oh, all the poets they studied rules of verse
And those ladies, they rolled their eyes

2.
[...]
I'm done with sergio
He treats me like a ragdoll
She hides
The television
Says 'i don't owe him nothing,
But if he comes back again
Tell him to wait right here for me or,
Try again tomorrow'

3.
Tell me now it's untrue
What did her daddy do?
He jacked a little bitty baby
The man has got to be insane
They say the spell that he was under
The lightning and the thunder
Knew that someone had to stop the rain
NOTE: This is not the first verse of the song; it's the first one that doesn't make too many references to the title.

Happy guessing! :)

*** - Sweeney

And I'd like to commend you for saying Velvet Underground and not Coyboy Junkies. I specifically picked the first verse of the original since it wasn't included in the cover version.
