NASA predicts the end of Western civilization

I wouldn't mourn that much if it all came to an end. However, I would be upset for my daughter.

I don't think I'll miss it all that much. Just give me some notice before everyone starts flinging bombs, there's a few people I need to see.

This needs to happen sooner. I'm tired of my student loans.

While the study has some ground, I think it may be a bit over the top, probably on purpose. Natural Resources are depleting, to be sure. But when try get gone, we've already found solutions for quite a bit of those. We run out of gas? Psh, we got electric cars now.

90% are hybrids and the ones that are full electric (like the Tesla) are way out of the financial means of the everyday family. Now if this is just because the Gov't has made it impossible to implement cheap electric cars because of its strangle hold on the oil industry it would have, or what I dont know, but right now I don't see us depleting our natural resources and everything just being ok.

Maybe you won't miss western civilization as a whole, but you'll miss your homes, possessions, health.

NASA needs to lay off the weed. Its making them paranoid.

I'm not a fan of electric cars. There's no...sound from the engine. They need to fix that ****.

And as resources are depleted, they will become more expensive. This is where he further states that “economic stratification” — where society is further divided based on wealth — will create “Elites” (rich) and “Masses” (poor), with the Elites being responsible for over-consuming, leaving the Masses in famine.

But before you start hoarding resources, the study does conclude that this scenario is not inevitable. In order to prevent such catastrophe, it calls for action by the Elites to share the wealth and to do their bit in restoring balance.

“Collapse can be avoided and population can reach equilibrium if the per capita rate of depletion of nature is reduced to a sustainable level, and if resources are distributed in a reasonably equitable fashion.”

It does serve as a wake-up call that if we don’t want to face disaster, we need to seriously consider how we manage resources, population growth and wealth. The end is not yet nigh … if we can help it.

Some interesting points there. Damn, how can anyone remain optimistic when even NASA states concerns about the unequal distribution of resources and where humanity is headed to :(.
The Elite though will never share its wealth with the rest of us. At least not as long as we keep using the monetary system and put a price tag in all goods.
I don't believe humanity is going to end soon, we will just be living in some horrible post apocalyptic type of scenarios as in Elysium, Soylent Green, Brazil, Mad Max, etc for many centuries yet to come.

but.... then there will be no more superhero movies....

Not really much of a prediction. It's as much of a prediction as walking up to someone and saying "I predict you're going to die".

but.... then there will be no more superhero movies....

I know, can you imagine the horror :o
lol there are people though that get very invested in SH movies and spend most of their time talking about them and neglecting other important sociopolitical issues.

I've been saying all this for the last 10 years.

but.... then there will be no more superhero movies....

Don't worry, we will get used to movies like:

Captain Arabia: Infidel Soldier
Supermahad vs Bharatman
The Amazing Sanjay-Man
Iron Chan

I look forward to Bollywood's Avengers:woot:

Pssh. This is the same newspaper that accused Andrew Garfield of throwing a fit at the Oscars and ditching a kid with cancer

It truly must be run by J Jonah Jameson.

So basically what has been theorized and anticipated for the last few decades. Thank god NASA was here to warn us...

News: "NASA warns people to stay away from tigers."

"They can kill because tigers kill people...because they're dangerous!" says Professor Phil Smellbad
