On Thursday, June 29 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, National Geographic Channel's (NGC) "The Science of Superman" puts the superpowers to the test, revealing what's plausible based on the earth-bound laws of physics, biology and astronomy, and what's pure science fiction. "The Science of Superman" blends expert scientific analysis with original, behind-the-scenes insight from "Superman Returns" director Bryan Singer, the new Superman, Brandon Routh, Smallville creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, and comic book writer Mark Waid, among others...

This might make an interesting thread for all of our "physics" debates. LOL ;)

whats your side of the debate Hulk?

Please, dont go there! :) All I can remember is that I agreed with Hulk.

However, this sounds like a great show, isnt there a book out there somewhere on this topic? I recall reading parts of it on line.

There's also a special on tonight on A & E at 8.00. "Look Up In The Sky"

There is, Ive never seen it, but I remember some people were quoting from it awhile back.

I don't get what they're saying.

I mean it is all real isn't it? There is a Superman.

I saw him fly on television one Thursday evening last year even though he wasn't wearing the costume. Some people may think its only entertainment, but I know its real.

Look, they wouldn't just make this stuff up y'know. Next thing y'know some jagov will be saying The Matrix is only a movie. Sweartagawd!

I am serious...

and don't call me Shirley!

reminds me of the super speed argument in the episode where clark raced to honduras, and everyone was saying it was too fast. and proved he could have done it about 400,000 times in one second. and then everyone says "oh youre taking it too seriously."

ths show validates me.

Thanks for the info I will be watching this....hmm I wonder if the people doing this show actually knows about all of Superman's powers.

what debate

fill me in

LOL dont want to start it up again but it was from the episode "Exposed" where Clark grabbed the cable and pulled the helicopter trying to fly away to him. I said he could do it because the force generated by his arms exceeded the force generated by the helicopter. Pat and someone else, cant remember who, said no matter how strong he is, he'd have to be anchored down... and it raged on for like 10 pages...

the book you guys are thinking of is "The Science of Superheroes." An excellent read. There's also a "Physics of Superheroes" book as well.

I haven't read that thread....but interesting. My guess would have to be....whomever pulls first.

Either Clark pulling it down before the helicopter rises.....or the Helicopter rising and lifting Clark off the ground before he pulls it down with his force. Superman or not, you can't pull something down in mid-air if you are stationary and have no center of gravity....I think.

What did I just say?:(

Well, Clark can manipulate gravity, so my guess is, what Clark says, goes. If he wants it to come down, he can force it, If he wants to stand in place while a car hits him and not budge, then he can do that too.

Wouldn't that rope snap under such pressure? Dang...forget it, I have a feeling that thread sounded something like what we're typing at the moment. :O

^^^^hows your boy ben? smart kid that one is eh?

^^He's an idiot for that.

Had to be speeding too. I believe the limit in that spot is 25 mph, and he left a good 20ft of skid marks before the crash.

^^^ Is there any significance to the date of death on that picture?

the three looks photoshopped. maybe it was replacing a two?
