NBC's Emerald City

I love the use of magic on the show.

And the witch intrigue.

And the visuals.

And clever use of Pink Floyd. :)

Now Dorothy is like WTH lol Going to get some sort of answers - she had to take a lot of **** this episode, and now that Lucas thinks he has his answers. Toto is such an energetic dog. :)

Im surprised there is not more talk about this show...its really interesting imo.
So far i liked every episode, the tone, the look etc everything is very good.

I'm liking this series too; so far, so good.

People nowadays demand that everything be canon with the 1939 musical. That's a problem. "Why is witch not Green?" "Where is songs?"

On its own merits the show is better than good so far. Maybe Dorothy is played a bit too grim (levity needs to come from somewhere besides Toto) but other than that it's very clever and pretty creative in its interpretation and is visually interesting and unusual for a TV show. Maybe it's all too much so for some.

Princess Langwidere's my favorite.

For whatever reason, the show hasn't picked up much of an audience; it's headed for cancellation. I'm actually not bothered by that, though, because I feel like it's better suited to a miniseries. By season's end, they'll have reimagined all of the most iconic Oz elements, so beyond that there'd be an element of, "Okay, now what?"

I'm actually not surprised it hasn't picked up an audience. Friday night isn't a great night for anything. It's not even pretending to be in canon with the 1939 movie like some other works have tried to be familiar like Oz The Great and Powerful. It's aimed at a more mature audience not a broad audience or a kids/family audience. But I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

Overall it was a pretty decent show. The production was great, it gave me what I wanted from Once Upon a Time on a production value.

The ending of the series (I hope it gets renewed but I have a feeling itll be cancelled) was weak though. We through all this trouble of getting Dorothy back to point A only to immediately getting her back to point B 5 minutes later.

I enjoyed the show and would love another season but I don't see that happening with the low ratings. I just can't believe they ended it the way they did without even wrapping up The Beast Forever storyline.

It seemed like a miniseries from the start.
As soon as the war between factions kicked in, they really rushed to end it.

Honestly, the whole time that Frank was planning to kill the witches with guns, I was thinking, "But only a witch can kill a witch." Way to bring your A game, man.

My biggest problem with the finale isn't the unfinished Beast Forever storyline (although not wrapping things up isn't good), but that it didn't bring Langwidere back. She was easily the best character.

Regardless, it was a good show.

The ending was kind of nonsense.

Jane: I'm sending you back and away from Oz to protect you like I promised! (sends Dorothy back to Kansas)

...Moments later in the show...

Lucas/Roan: Your mom needs you back in Oz she's a prisoner of the Beast Forever.

I get that this above could be another trick to get her back but I question the premise.

Also...

Swapping Karen for Jane as Dorothy's mom was kind of WHY do that at all moment. I guess because the plot needed her to be alive and captured at the end but I still question if that was a good decision.

Other than that it was ok though we might not ever get an answer.

[BLACKOUT]The Wizard thought it could work because that's how Dorothy "killed" the other witch.[/BLACKOUT]

Finally had a chance to bingewatch the show. Amazing visuals, great story telling (although a little bit rushed at the end), fantastic ators. Why is the show not more popular?

"Only a witch can kill a witch".
Coercing a witch to suicide is technically dying by your own witch self.

Really sad that its likely to be over already, i liked the show a lot.
At least for 2-3 seasons the show would have had enough material, the potential is there.

I dont understand why people are not more into such shows like this or Once Upon A Time, Galavant and stuff.
There have been so many great fantasy shows in the recent years and i feel like people dont really appreciate them.

One thing about it though, is that it's quite obvious that time passes very differently between Earth and Oz. Dorothy was in Oz for what seemed like weeks, while she was only gone for ten minutes from Earth.

Who knows what has happened in the few days that Dorothy was back on Earth. I'm sure it's been months, or maybe even a year or two since Dorothy left Oz, from Oz's perspective.

No surprise here.
